thanks op, I wasn't going to buy one but checked some online reviews and a video where they showed it in use crushing ice and also making smoothies and then I Wanted a smoothie.. looked on a well known kitchen goods retailer and even the cheapo blenders were more expensive than this.. so long way to the point of I bought one. To make smoothies.

Can vouch for the quality of these - they’re very solid (I’d quite heavy)

    • Good for ice?
      Edit: Comment above just confirmed

Not super cheap, has been as low as $50 in all different colours. I bought one last Amazon sale and found it to be pretty not great - doesn't blend frozen fruit/ice well for smoothies and also cleaning it is a pain - lots more parts to separate than my last blender.

    • Thanks for the info. Not going to buy then :)
      Happy with my omniblend

Great deal! Thanks OP. I am considering this one or Nutri Bullet for my friend's house warming gift. Anyone has any suggestion or comparison between two?

  • Got a red one, thanks

  • is this suitable for chopping and making chilli sauce like sambal?

    • I’d say yes. I bought one for $50 on Amazon a few months ago for making frozen margaritas and tequila dole whips but it seriously struggles. Sauces shouldn’t be an issue.

  • Couldn't find the be power in the description, which probably means that it's underpowered.

Or you could have done a simple google search to find out it has 800w motor.

      • Thanks, this confirms my assumption though in terms of the ridiculous power to the RRP ratio. An okay buy at this price but I'd recommend the Nutribullet 900 with the 20% off PGGUY code but I think that's just ended.

hahaha, my partner wanted a blender for her bd (lets not get bogged down with details) and this could not come at a better time. She wanted Blendtec, well…guess she is getting a kenwood haha

Sounds like they are different beasts. You might want to find out what she intends to use the blender for. Other posters say it can struggle. GF won’t be happy if it doesn’t do what she wants. Everytime she looks at it she will be reminded you cheaped out.

      • Well, if she googles…for any reason, it would come up as $269. Sooner or later she will find out I am an ozbargainer. If she doesn't like it, I can always return it.

I’m more concerned about cheap quality than cheap price. I went through a few Breville blenders until I bit the bullet and bought a Vitamix. This thing purées a brick. No little chunks of fruit in my smoothies, no siree Bob. It hasn’t missed a beat since I’ve bought it. Last week Costco and the Blendtec’s on special.

          • @try2bhelpful: I was actually suggesting her Vitamix. I used to advertise for them in the past and looked pretty decent. Strong customer feedback like yours.

            • @samkenny: My quibbles with Vitamix is that they have almost no safeguards, there is no such thing as a lock in lid, etc, and that the old style ones are great for smoothies but if you are making a thick paste it is hard to get the stuff out. You might want to look at the newer ones with the variation in bowl size and removable blades, you do need to be careful to ensure it seals properly from leaks. We use ours every couple of days, they are very easy to clean. I would also look at the Blendtec ones, but I’ve only seen them at Costco out here.
