Hey Guys,

I have been getting quite a few of those instant wins after I recharge my optus prepaid mobile. Since I only recharge with 30 dollars everytime to keep my credit for 6 months expiry, the only 'prizes' I have 'won' so far have been either 'bonus credit' or bonus data. Is it meant to be that the lower u recharge the less u win? I.e if someone cashed out 100 dollars on a recharge they would win something of more value? =)

  • Having been on Optus prepaid for about 8 years, I have only won bonus sms/credit (and bonus data which I never use). I also recharge $30 everytime too and haven't won anything big. So to answer your question, yes.

They probably suck you in as there are major prizes to be won. What are the chances of that happening?

  • I also have been with Optus prepaid for 5years or so, never won anything else other than bonus sms/credit, which normally last for only 14 days. Bit weak for prizes IMHO. I recharge between $40-$50 for my 60day plan.

  • Same, was wondering if others had won. Seems like there is no real prizes

  • Same here. Nothing better than those mentioned above.

  • Was on Optus prepaid for many years too, all my family and I won were crappy free ringtones (but data to download it wasnt free = crap), sms's and some small credits which expired in 7 days = useless.
Kinda misleading how they make you think that YOU choose the prize by clicking on button, when (I think) the code given to you is already a code for a crappy prize.

    • Yeah, that annoys me the most - as if the prizes aren't crappy enough by itself, the 7 days expiry just kills it.

  • +1

Same here. Been with Optus for six years. I have three pre-paid phones. I have never won anything which I could use. Their bonus talk minutes also would apply only after you have finished your recharge value. I wonder if anyone wins anything at all. Optus is not one of the ethical companies. ACCC took them to court on their Unlimited telephone plans with restrictions. Please see the link below

    • To be fair, a lot of companies do this: have a very limited number of 'real' prizes and many of the uninspiring 'discount' or 'voucher' prizes. That way they can honestly say everyone could win a car/money a holiday. I felt the same way about all those McDonalds monopoly competitions, never really heard of anyone winning anything decent.

  • simply i dont give a sh*t abt prizes now,cuz same thing happens here too

  • next thing you know, people will complain that they keep getting these lotto ticket things, but they never seem to win ten million dollars. what a rort!

  • When there are thousands of small prizes and only a couple of high value prizes, odds are you will get a small prize so recharge value has nothing to do with what you end up winning.
