I like the quality of Belkin products. However I think their RRP is just crazy.

Strewth! That’s huge for a 4 outlet board

    • So so big!

    • +3

Yeah when a powerboard weighs 757kg, you know it’s huge.

    • No, it's just super dense.

Don’t price match Bunnings. They deserve the sale!! Especially due to their recent generosity!!

Please elaborate - I've been living under a rock, it seems.

People attempted to buy an incorrectly priced drone from Bunnings ($2000 for $300).

They honoured the drone until they ran out of stock and then gave everyone else a refund and $250 Bunnings voucher.

          Well played.

        • +4

That is absolutely the last time I skip an obvious price error

    • Bunnings is officeworks lol

      • different management though. so Bunnings doing well does not mean Officeworks does well.

Poor quality. I returned two of these as they blew with USB leads and genuine ones at that. Can't reset.

    • Just wondering what type of usb device you were trying to charge? Were you using just one port or both?

      • does the usb ports waste electricity when nothing is plugged in

        • Just making an estimated guess here, but like most electrical goods when plugged in and turned on or on stand by, most of the time they use a small amount of power.

Hence this might be the same, but remember it has a master switch that I assume turns everything off.

    • What would you recommend getting instead?

  • +3

Been using them for like 4+ years and got at least 5 in my house, never has skips a beat. Maybe I am just lucky. Only downside is I sometimes wish it had an individual switches.

    • Same here, had no issues except they are quite large but that’s got its advangtages as well

  • Looking for an 8 outlet board.. anyone seen a good deal around?

    • Ideally one that doesn't need eBay Plus for free delivery (cos darned if I have seen much value in that beyond the trial)…

    • +1

Amazon has the Belkin 8 outlet for an extra $12.

      • Thanks mate will check it out. 😊

  • Quite low protection rating. Paying a premium for the brand by the looks of it.

    • Can you elaborate a bit more please?

      • Joule Rating only 525, it's in the specs.

        • +1

In reality, no power board will really do much to protect against a decent surge.

You're more paying for the connected equipment warranty which Belkin have over most other brands.

Bought a couple at officeworks for $22.71 each after the 5% off price match was applied .

2 x USB ports (2.4a) for fast charging tablets,

There is no fast charging here. The 2.4A is shared with no fast charger controller.

  • I also have a lot of Belkin products; quality/price wise, very nice products

  • Would anyone know if these are any good?
    https://www.amazon.com.au/GOLINX-Powerboard-Overload-Protect…

Its $9.50 which is half the price

    • +1

      No surge protection

  • Will the USB port be enough to power a Xiaomi WPC01ZM 10W Qi?

    • +1

You need something with quick charge (9V) to run it at 10W. A regular 5V charger will run it at 5V.

So enough power to run the wireless charger but without quick charge

    • Look above at second comment 😜

  • Officeworks price beat for me, the cashier checked the Bunnings sale on my phone for a good 30 seconds and showed the manager the price. I guess less that half price probably didn't seem right.

oh and I run these around the house, for the price and USB ports they are great. Size is a bit big and bulky though.

    • thought they would at least check on their phones and/or store computers.

  • Great price OP ! However as others have mentioned, seems rather huge :/

  • Question about powerboards: If I get one with on/off switched for each outlet on the board, will I save power?

    • Depends… For starters you need to use the switches. Many people just leave the switches on.

The devices that you connect need to be consuming a reasonable amount of power for you to be able to save anything.

      • At my desk I have my desktop PC which is always on at the power and I also have a setup for my laptop. Sometimes I use both, but if I'm not using my laptop I will unplug my laptop charger from the powerboard I currently have. Also, I have my phone and galaxy tab charger plugged in to the powerboard and will pull that out if I'm not charging. Will having individual switches be the same as pulling them out? And do you think those things consume reasonable amount of power? Or are you thinking more along the lines of a home theatre system?

        • Will having individual switches be the same as pulling them out?

          Same. Zero electricity used.

Assuming the laptop charger and phone chargers take 3w power in total, then that is about 26kw per year. @40c per Kw roughly $10

  • Thanks OP! Managed to get an Officeworks price beat no stress after trying Bunnings to no avail.
