Feel sorry for the 8 people who paid full sticker for one in the past 6 years ;-)

    • Haaaaaaa

    • +5

Chances are they didn't pay full price.. but I still feel sorry for them!

    • -2

How did you find out the 8 people who paid full price?

      • +14

        Woooosh

      • Hyperbole. Wouldn't be wrong to assume it's true though.

    • Anyone got Slater & Gordon's class action department phone number?
      We want $37,888 back!

      • +8

That will be close to their legal fee lol.

        • +8

          No win, no fee.
          Win, 90% fee.

    Lol

I can imagine pricing for spare parts and servicing on these is going to be very expensive down the track.

    • +5

These are just Nissans though, can get super cheap parts imported right?

      • +14

When did importing parts become super cheap?

        • +15

Since forever? Having owned a Skyline G50, parts are VERY cheap. The skyline I had before that had cheap parts too….

            • +9

@Tacooo: Nope, will be cheaper than any euro and even the prev gen aussie commodore new parts.

              • @onlinepred: Beg to differ… my French is cheap as s**t!

                • -5

@kronicmacstigator: French shit is cheap, because they are shit and don't last. Most French cars are rated as some 9f the least reliable cars in Europe, let alone Australia. I used to have two different pugs, they were good cars made shit

          • @onlinepred: Any recommended website/s?

            • +2

@kolorijo: No sorry mate, I took my skyline to a skyline specialist who imported the parts. You would be best finding a local shop that deals with skylines/nissans and see if they can order parts for you on their own shipment or if they already have parts available

            • +11

@kolorijo: I import a few genuine pieces for my Subaru.
I use either Partsouq or Amayama. Less than half the price the dealerships charge for genuine parts

          • @onlinepred: yep - plenty of import wreckers too (or in sydney at least)

          • -4

@onlinepred: So how does this work? I pop in to my Nissan dealer because my car has issues, I get a quote, it's more then I expected.
So I ask the dealer for part numbers for my car so I can order them online and they can fit it. They refuse to fit customer parts so I find an independent

So I order the parts and get an independent to fit. They fit it with the clause that I provided the part and if that part failed, say a manufacturing fault I would be providing the warranty.

Sorry but this is great only if you have the parts at home so you're not waiting for your parts to arrive from overseas. Until then your car may be off the road and to some people that is not an option.

Don't get me wrong it's a great idea and I do it, but you would need to be technically minded and prepared to accept the risks of forfeiting consumer protections.

You can't have the whole cake. It will work for some people and not for others.

            • +2

@mrhugo: You sound like a main dealer's wet dream.

            • +1

@mrhugo: Just bypass the dealer. Find an independent that advertises speciality in your brand of cars and have them import the parts for you, would be way cheaper than going through the dealer and you still get your peace of mind since it's supplied by your mechanic.

            • @mrhugo: You just need to put some research into at and effort, it's all to save money, it's what we do here at ozb right?

        • +2

Parallel import parts are much cheap than local one.

        • +2

          It can be a thing.
Uncle buys camaro parts cheaper than commondore

        • +4

Since we were able to ship overnight parts from Japan..

        • When you buy a Japanese car the parts are cheap to import

      • -2

Not all of them are Nissans. Some of them are rebadged Mercs (Q30/QX30 vs A Class/GLA) but built in the UK.

        • +8

Rebadged is a little bit of a stretch - they sit on a shared platform with shared engines and transmissions, but the bodies are different. You wouldn't be rolling into a Benz dealership for aftersales support.

      • +1

Only people with no knowledge of infiniti says that. For example Q50 is made in the UK with lots of ties with Mercs.
In North America Infiniti is a serious competitor to the Germans and the Lexus, while Tesla is beating them all.

        • What engine is it? Where's it from?

Infinity sedans were only good as they used skylines as a base. They drew their appeal and reviews thanks to the skylines

          • @onlinepred: Mercedes M274 Engine. So all late model Merc 4-cyl. A,B,C,E Class and some GL varients (Non AMG).

I believe the Q50 shares its power output with the C250

    • Nissan parts?

      • Nissan and Renault parts

    • True. Although they might be Nissan but the parts sticker price will be jacked up

      • +1

If you don't buy the nissan part…

    • Most of the drivetrains are just Nissan or Mercedes parts bin.

    • +2

      EBay is your friend

      • +10

        Never returns my call

        • +2

Only if you're an 'Eligible Item'

    • +3

At this price they want you to buy a second car for spares.

    • +1

Just buy 2, and keep 1 as parts stock……

    • Infinity used and probably are one of the most reliable car makers according to some sources (4/1000breakdowns vs 8-10/1000cars on average from my memory). Nissans are relatively reliable. however since Nissan merged with French, their quality declined a bit, and you should be careful with automatic gearboxes! I would buy infinity if I have money, they are great luxury cars that do not fall apart I think

    Thanks Bought 10

    • +5

You should have bought 14, so 2 for each day of the week.

      • +10

Drive one to work, drive the other home. Rinse and repeat.

        • this is OBD advice I needed

      • +25

        Thanks bought another 4

      • What a bat$hit crazy thing to say! Why would someone need any more than 7?

        • +1

You only need 3 to rotate them for work.

        • They could be married to a social influencer, you know the ones with fat lips, so they can each have one for each day 2x7=14

    • +7

High yield investment am I right guys. Did you remember cashback?

I think these jokes are burned into every Ozbargainers brain by now surely?

      • +10

sxxt! forgot the cashback, Will need to cancel the order and reorder it. Thanks for the heads up anyway.

      • +6

Don't forget to check under the bonut

    • The greed of OzBargainers =)

  • +2

thank you, getting one right now, doing the paperwork.

  • +8

Amazing deals, this is going to see secondhand prices crash bad.

    • -7

      Only time will tell.

    • +2

i assume this holds true unless you keep this (or any other car) for the long term i.e. 10 years?

    • +3

If you are the type of person who keeps a car for 10 years and puts 250,000km on it. It wouldn't matter too much.

You are getting 3 years of depreciation "for free"

      • +2

Skoda sold the last of the Roomsters through a Sydney dealer for 35% below RRP (around $17k). 5 years later people are asking not much less than that and getting it. I'm not sure the Infiniti will have the same following of weirdos though.

    price match @ Audi

My son picked his up QX30 2 hours ago and is on the way home now. He purchased from Werribee Nissan.

    • +1

You know what he paid for it?

      • +6

$33400 on road. It is a QX 30 sports demo with 6000km

        • +2

6 thousand? That's a lot of driving. I guess demo means the car the dealer's daily driver.

Good deal though. Won't be an issue.

          • +1

            @bmerigan: +1

a dude go the same gym as me working in Car Dealer, he just drives them like he own them… to say the least

          • @bmerigan: Yes, it was driven by a manager.

        • +1

6000km is officially a used car (anything over 5000km). Nice purchase!

        • Was that the 2019 or 2018 model?

    • +1

      Nice car great value there!

    • -4

      …..probably should have bought a RAV4.

  • wonder what is the sale price for the qx70 s-design. castle hill nsw was selling them for around $56-58k from memory. don't mind the suv shape (coming from a nissan murano), but defaulting to rwd in standard driving conditions and switching to the gtr's awd system at other times appealed to me

  • +11

    don’t forget cashback

  • -1

Should I buy this or an executive driven Holden lololol

But seriously. Between a commodore wagon v6 awd vs infinity q50 - it's a tough call.

    • +1

what's so good about the Q50? It's a luxery Nissan right?

    • +1

It’d be cool to have an executive drive you.

  • +2

Seriously speaking, I'll consider the QX80 if they drop it to under 60k
