Seems like an insane price for a brand new carbon bike with the latest 105 group set.

The staff said it's a one week sale.

  • Any recommendations for bike phone mounts?

    • Have a look at Quadlock

  • Wow, great price. Wish there was a way to pay for shipping

  • totally gone now - out of stock before i could get a XS / S size. :(

    • XS is back in stock

      • Hoping S comes back in stock

  • why did i just upgrade to a bike i don't need….argh

    • What size did you get? I'll buy it off you.

      • hey mate. apologies but probably won't be selling it on. picked it up yesterday and buyer's remorse evaporated as soon as i took it for a quick cruise. sorry

        • +1

Haha yup, it really is an awesome bike. Just felt so good compared to the bikes I had before.

  • There'll be a few returns I reckon. I will be one of them. I;m bordeline S/M frame, so bought both and will return the one I don' take out of shop.

    • Where are you based? Interested in the M if you want to return it

    • Also keen on the S if it doesn't fit depending on where you are located!

  • Anyone in Sydney North/city area having buyer's remorse?!

  • +1

Has anybody got an update on a click and collect order yet?

    • I have here, ready to pick up.

  • Can anyone let me know if 28mm tyres would fit?

  • +1

I was in chat with them today - more stock on the way next week apparently

  • Did anyone place a Click & Collect order and has heard back? I placed C&C for Knox yesterday monring and am yet to hear anything.

No phone numbers for stores and customer service have been unresposnive, great!

    • same boat, check your pm.

    • Also in the same boat, I was informed via the live chat that the delivery of the bikes are delayed and won't be ready for collection until next week at the earliest.

    • Jusat received an email saying more stock is being delivered next week. I'm not too convinced we're all going to get our bikes….

  • I placed an order for a small on Wednesday night at around 10 (box hill store pick up). I just heard back from them via email and they said one of my items in my order went missing. Messaging them back to see if that’s absolute

    • Got a response, and Decathlon are hoping it's just a shipment delay. I'm hearing "hoping it's just a shipment delay" and "delayed", I wonder which is true.

OP wrote, "latest 105 group set".

This bike appears to have the 5800 series, which is the previous version. Latest Shimano 105 series is R7000.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

    • You are correct this is discontinued 5800 group set

    • That's because the pictures show the R7000 gruppo.

Someone should be able to confirm here once they receive it IRL…

  • Anyone actually got hands on the bike yet and able to confirm the above? How’s the ride?

    • +1

Tested the display model at the store, feels much better than the Aldi road bike that I have. So I think it’s a worthwhile upgrade if you’re coming from something similar.

  • Just got email saying the item is out of stock, and they're trying to arrange stock. fingers crossed…

  • +2

Tempe’s back in stock, looks like there should be enough for everyone.

    • Ooh interesting.

It now also says the rrp was 2999 whereas price hipster puts it at 1499

      • The review posted here said £1400 so $2999 sounds about right, maybe $1499 was the first round of discounts.

  • It's the old 105 group set 5800. Decent price.

    • Something is wrong.

The pictures all show the latest 105 R7000. The spec, however, lists the old 5800.

  • May jump onto this, so tempting.
If I regret, anyone have experience with their 365 day return policy?

  • How much was the cashrewards rate? Now showing as 1.4% but I remember it being higher when purchasing

    • Was 7% until 25/10

      • Was 4% last night.

        • Yeh it was another cash back thingo that was 7

          • @Hoju: My cash back? I tried it and only got 4.7% back, which is more than cash rewards but nowhere near 7%. I am not a fan since that rate was never specified anywhere.

            • @cheng2008: I think it was get cash back AU
If you search decathlon on ozbargain it comes up as a deal (the 7%)

              • @Hoju: Yeah that’s the one. I didn’t get anywhere near 7%, only 4.7%.

                • @cheng2008: Hmm says new customers only is that why maybe

                  • @Hoju: I signed up that day so that I’m pretty sure that was the best they could do, either way it was very difficult to figure out just how much I was getting.

        • Thanks

  • Willing to purchase size XL, let me know if anyone has one.

  • +1

Great product, I went into the store to check the bike, pretty good, the staff told me that they tried to order a batch of 40 but only managed to get 8 coming on Tuesday. I've purchased an XS, I thought it might be too small but when I tried in store it was a good fit (I'm 168cm).

Obviously up to individual preference but on the UK site, the sizing is specifically for this model:
    XS 166 - 171
    S 171 - 178
    M 178 - 183
    L 183 - 188
    XL 188 - 200

    • Interesting. I'm a 165cm dude. Think the XS would fit well? They are still available but the S is sold out…. Tempted

      • +1

You should be able to make XS fit. You can buy a shorter stem to close the gap between the seat and bars. Also could swap the seatpost to something that sits the seat more forward.

Depends on your limb lengths too… You might not even need to change any parts.

      • +2

XS and S in stock at Tempe according to the site.

        • Thanks guys, had to ship a XS, will see how it is

  • Just spoke with chat

They said no more stock and none coming

    😭

    • same here, weirdly last week someone in the chat assured me there was more stock coming this week.

      • Yeah got the same message. Had a chance to buy the bike as well plus $71 shipping but decided to wait when it was in stock locally as they said it would be. Now it seems it won't ever be in stock. Not sure why they told me that.

        Disappointing really.

        • My guess is there was a mix up between the international Decathlon distributor and the amount of stock the Aus stores would be receiving, so they listed a large quantity of stock but couldn't get the same amount delivered.

        • I believe there will be restock. Biking season is ended in Europe and has just started in Australia. I bet all the European leftovers (if any) will be sent here

      • Tempe's restock was Friday, after I picked it up today the guy said there will be no restock.

    • Should've pulled the trigger after last week's restock haha, plenty available on Friday.

      • In store? Anyone keen to check?

        • Like I said, Tempe is not getting any more in, the guy said you need to go through the website and whatever you can get online was it. In addition the sale week seems to be up.

          • @cheng2008: I know but I asked because Weirdly Tempe still shows stock

            • @ets27: I'd take that with a grain of salt, as even the display model seems to be sold. I'd say that there really is nothing left, but maybe someone will return one?

              • @cheng2008: Don't know. What size are you after?

                • @ets27: I picked mine up already, which one did you want?

                  • @cheng2008: Ah right. L or M I'm right in between

                    • @ets27: Unfortunately they were the most popular sizes, doubt they would have any left.

  • Item page gone now :(

  • Back in Stock. Sizes XS and S. Tempe.

    • Yes… no m :(

      • Yup, guy said whatever's left is it.

  • Did anyone checked today if there is any stock in Tempe?

  • It appears that quite a few users here have purchased the bike, yet no confirmation whether groupset is 8500 or R7000 series.

    Anyone care to share? Thanks!

    • I have purchased the bike and I have absolutely no idea, how do I tell?

    • +1

It's the R7000, same as the pictures.

      • +1

Fantastic. Extra bargain then for those that managed to get one.

    • yes, can confirm it looks like the R7000 groupset. Just noticed the webpage says 'Pedals not included'. Pictures are also not showing pedals. I got pedals but bike came with absolutely nothing else - no manuals/documentation etc

  • It's gone back $1499 so I guess that's the end of that deal.

If anyone has one in large in Melbourne and don't really want it I'd be happy to pay $999 and pick it up

  • Anyone know if pick up orders are fulfilled differently to delivery orders? So first in best dressed regardless whether you ordered for pick up or delivery?

  • +5

Just a reminder to folks who bought one that you can add a complementary third year warranty on the mavic wheels and crash replacement program (40% off similar wheels) by registering the wheels on mavic's website.

    • Nice one !! Thanks

The problem with Decathlon is pretty much everything they sell is no-name or non-branded or their own brand. They are cheaply sourced products that appear good but probably don't perform as good as other name brands. Example. I bought a golf driver there which was carbon fibre and it was dead cheap. It's pretty terrible to hit with compared to a named brand item while being more expensive works better. So I would try before you buy with this item.

    • True maybe for the frame, but I'd say the frame is a generic mold from Taiwan which would be perfectly fine.

Then all the rest of the bike is brand name stuff, so I think this is an exception to the rule.

      • Yep, Shinamo groupset, Mavic wheels, they are not non-branded products.

        • Nah that must be another frame, these are made in China, designed and tested in France.

          • @insertusernamehere: Interesting. The photo was taken from a review of the very same bike:
            https://road.cc/content/review/246049-btwin-ultra-900-cf-105

Edit: Actually the review is the same bike but with previous version Shimano 105 R5800 series groupset. The frameset received top marks in the review.

Makes me wonder how good the frame is on the bike posted here. There has to be differences to a carbon fibre frame manufactured in China, as compared to one manufactured in France.

            • @tranter: Heaps of big names use China & Taiwan to manufacture frames. You can pay to get a really nice frame, or pay less to get a less nice frame … BMC, Pinarello, Scott, Bianchi all have varying degrees of build quality made in China/Taiwan.

  • for those in the know, is this a deal? I imagine the $499 version would've been a bargain

    https://decathlon.com.au/products/ultra-700-al-road-bike?

    • That is an aluminum frame

      • i can see that, but isn't that a 105 R5800 set on there?

        • Lol sorry I read your initial comment as you saying it was a $499 version of the same bike.

    • Good deal, but it's $999 now. Even at $999 it's not badly priced. The crankset is RS500 not 105, but apart from that it's OK. Cheap wheels, and cheap tyres though. Other aluminium framed brands for around this price will probably only have Tiagra or Sora components, and I'm sure this BTWIN frame goes just fine.

      • Thanks. I’m referring to the Colour Light Blue version for $499 (out of stock now). That looks like a 105 on there

  • Back in stock, all sizes except M

    • And $500 more :(

      • Still a good deal with the latest 105 set, get it.

        • +1

That's a very hard pill to swallow
