Shipping always seems to be insane at massdrop. Kills a lot of the deals.
Edit: appears to be pretty reasonable on this one

    • Yeah it's $5 delivery for each of these, which is far more reasonable.

    • Lately they have been really reasonable for international delivery.

For those who aren't interested in buying in pairs, this would combine well with the Koss KSC75X also stocked by Drop, which uses a different variant of the Koss's dynamic driver than the Porta Pro (titanium-coated vs non-coated).

The entire budget Koss line of dynamic headphones is built around these two variations of the same driver. They compliment each other surprisingly well, and that would come in at about AU$45 for the set, which is crazy value for quality portable audio.

Another recommendation would be to get a couple of pairs of Yaxi Pads to go with these for around US$20 (AU$30) for 2 pairs.

For anyone who's worried about missing out on these deals, or isn't keen on those designs, there's also the Koss KPH30i which is a more neutral-sounding take on the Porta Pro with a classic headband design. Drop do a shipment of these once a month (usually starting from the 2nd or 3rd week) and it's US$25 a pair including delivery (possibly $15 after a referral credit if you buy the other two first). Honestly, you could buy all three, get Yaxi pads for the Porta Pro and the KPH30i at least, and you would be very happy with the AU$100-AU$115 spent.

To compare to AU pricings for each item mentioned, you're looking at:

Porta Pro - $27 on Drop, $60+ locally
    KSC75 - $20 on Drop, $40+ locally
    KPH30i - $22-$37 on Drop, $60+ locally
Yaxi Pads (2 pairs) - $30 direct from Japan, N/A locally

Can confirm. Porta Pro + Yaxi Pad is an awesome sounding portable set up. I actually prefer using these commuting over iso or noise cancelling as I don't want to lose my spatial awareness.

How do you pair two different headphones (to get the $20 dollar discount)?

Maybe I am doing it all wrong, but there isn't an option to add to cart.

      • You're right, I've assumed wrong about the 'add order' button on the payment page. You'll need to buddy up with someone and split the costs for each ordering a pair of each item.

The good news is my cost calculations were out a bit too, you're looking at AU$26.50 for a Porta Pro and $14.5 for the KSC75 via such a split.

I see. No issues there then.

          Tx!

  • Any Bluetooth version on sale. I remember I had these when a while back and they were awesome but can't use a wired headphone with my phone anymore.

    • You can get a 3.5mm to USB-C connector, assuming one didn't come with your phone.

  • Good price but they are very slow to ship from my past experience. I will wait for Amazon sale which often worked out to be cheaper with prime.

  • Does the Lifetime Waranty on these apply for Australian customers?
