    • Did you get your $200 gift card?

  • Any store in Sydney ? I just checked with one and they couldn't find it.

    • Prospect good guys did it for me

    • Had the same problem at the North Lakes store. Couldn’t find it on their system - then I pointed to the sign sitting on the desk behind the counter.

  • Rang up the nearest GG store and they said this is for the $50 mobile phone plan and not the data plan. The GC T&C says …"bring their mobile number to Telstra…". Help?
Keen to sign up for the mobile broadband with the $200 GC.

  • Guys, I managed to get one from Caringbah after trying three branches. In-store guys were really supportive in this branch (hats off) while those at first two basically played dumb. Anyways bad story is, while they were processing my order they received a text message advising 'not to issue' these plans anymore. They said I was the lucky last (may be different for other stores but for Caringbah you are out of luck I guess). Anyways thanks heaps for the OP and the Good guys at Caringbah…

    • They sound like good guys

  • My store just got text as well. No go unfortunately. Anyone in W.A tried rockingham?

    • try cockburn

      • Yeah, you won't get burnt there!

      • OUCH! No thank you…

  • Thanks OP. Got one today morning from TGG Prospect. No device plan attached, just the mobile broadband and received the GC as well.

  • Just went to a shop and they said it's just been pulled out.

    • Don’t they know pulling out doesn’t work 🙃

No go in Brisbane. It’s shown on their system, but she said it’s 24 months and have to port a number and have to use gift card towards either a phone or tablet.

  • Did anyone have issues getting the gift card on the spot?
They said I have to come back once Telstra sends them an email

  • I was told all eligible and fine even on Telstra plan but there is $600 minimum payment even though not on the sign which is says no lock in, no deal 😕

    • :) when signing up and getting confirmed via the phone (recorded), the key is specifically mention (clarify) this is a no min commitment. Now waiting for digital gift card via email.

      • I got $200 physical gift cards from the store.

        • That guy lied to me. Saying that they dont do physical cards anymore.

  • GG. Thanks OP.

The guy signed my mate up managed to get all her family members onto the deal too!

Just called my local and they said they got a notification a few hours ago to pull the entire deal due to "fraud"

    • +3

    1. Walked into good guys
    2. Signed up without any issues with a new number
    3. Good guys confirmed to give me $200 gift card and there is no lock in contract even if I have a new number. They made me speak to telstra to verify my details and it was approved instantly. Telstra rep said that this is a casual plan which can be cancelled or changed at any time without any charges. I agreed and done.
    4. I was told to come in about 30 mins to get the gift card.
    5. I went in and after they checked in their system, they gave me a $200 gift card.
    6. I walked out and went online to chat with telstra and asked if I cancel or changed on this plan, will I charged any fees and the chat rep said “No charges”. I double confirmed that and he assured no charges since its a casual plan.
    7. I requested him to cancel which he did and then I emailed the chat transcript to myself.
    8. After an hour I got a call from the Good Guys rep who signed me up saying that since I have cancelled it, Telstra will charge me for the $200 gift card on my first bill.

Question for all - do you think they can charge me for the gift card when it’s not mentioned anywhere in the paperwork I was emailed and was not told by good guys prior to sign up and chat rep did not say anything about that?

    • +2

T&Cs are pretty concrete with no mention of cancellation fees. I would complain if they tried to charge you.
Maybe wait and see what happens

      • Yea, thats what I thought so but that made me feel guilty or shall I treat this as their stupidity of offering this promotion without a logic?

        • Just wondering how GG knows that you cancelled the plan? I was under impression once the deal is done, they wouldn't care whether Telstra charges you or not for any plan change/cancellation. I too cancelled my plan around 2pm today after signing up morning. Lets see if I get call from GG.

          • @mjoz: I have no clue how did they get to know but they do have a system called Sibel which has some links to Telstra’s system or may be they were notified about the cancellation via email. The GG rep might have been pissed off after seeing that. She called me and after I answered (as I was not aware of who was calling), she introduced herself and talked about the cancellation and I hung up as I was not sure what to say. She recalled and left a message saying “I called to let u know that since you have cancelled your plan, you will be billed by telstra for that and I am not trying to be nasty. If you have any questions, feel free to call back” and I did not call back.

@Yankyviking: Would be interesting to see how many will get such calls. GG did realise,of course late, that there is a loop hole in this offer and withdrew it as per above comments. In saying that customers must not be charged anything since the plan itself doesn't have any mention of GC (from Telstra side). Don't know how GG will defend this if at all they try to recoup their 'free' GC :)

              • +2

@mjoz: The good guys should now be called The Bad Guys 😂

    • +2

Don't stress it. They can't charge you for it as there is no where on the contract or CIS that mentions the gift card

  • I wonder if Rod Sims signed up too?

  • Signed up at Nunawading, VIC store. Couldn’t get the gift card as they were waiting for some email to come through which didn’t happen for at least 40 mins after the order. They told me at the end, guy who ordered an hour before me got his email just then. So hopefully tomorrow I get the gift card.

Store sales rep and person the phone honoured the deal easily didn’t have to ask twice. Agreement over the phone said clearly casual plan with a total cost of $50 and no ETC with $200 TGG GC.

    • What time in the day did you sign up?

      • I did it around 4pm. Same store, same experience

    • Got pulled from this store too.

    • Got the gift card today. Had to wait 40 mins in store as no one was trained to do it. Anyway, made ~$198 for nothing so worked out well.

      • Same experience with me today too at the same store. Good think they learn by now given how many ozbargainers do this.

      • $198?

  • Deal is still valid at some TGG stores. If it’s still advertised in store then they should honour it. In any case it’s still on their website.
It seems the general expectation is that the stores await email confirmation from Telstra before they put thru the gift card. One store elected to do e gift card and I’m still waiting one day on…

    • Got yours yet? I am waiting for mine.

      • still waiting… signed up on Saturday.

        • Still waiting?

  • Called Bankstown and Auburn, NSW. They're not doing it, claiming it got pulled by Telstra. Just a heads up

  • Tried to do it at the Alexandria store. The store manager was saying "it was a mistake on the website" then kept trying to get me to sign up to other deals.

    • Logde a complaint with ACCC for bait advertising.

  • lol the lady at my church said the deal was taken down due to it being a ‘scam’

  • Deal just removed from TGG website now

    • Expected. It was running for this weekend only

    • But other deals supposed to end today are still up

  • +1

Finally got my $200 giftcard on Saturday. I had to wait in the store for almost an hour because The Good Guys need to call Telstra up and then wait for the credit email to come through from Telstra. Once the credit is received through email, then only TGG issue the giftcard.

PS: I signed up on Friday when they closing the store, I was handed the SIM card but no giftcard then. I had to go again on Saturday to follow up and finally got it after they made a phone call to Telstra.

  • Just a FYI
They've started cancelling the gift cards, I signed up and got it. Went to use it today and said it was invalid. But when I checked yesterday it was still good

  • +1

    Wow, ACCC will love this.

    https://www.accc.gov.au/publications/advertising-selling/adv…

Telstra and TGG stuffed up the t&c for the sale but issuing giftcards and then cancelling them is misleading advertising.

They are big enough to carry the loss.

    Just my personal opinion.

    • Yes. I am drafting my complaint already. Will send once TGG denies my gift card.

    • Lodged ACCC complaint already too, hidden minimum spend on no lock in casual plan, yeah I'm saying that's misleading AF…

  • I haven’t got mine yet and called late yesterday. Ima go into store today and ask and complain

    • let me know if you manage to get it
