Soniq TV and Channel 9

My 42" Soniq tv was working ok in our living room until 2 days ago, as normal i watch the news around 6pm, usually channel 9, then it started to restart itself, happened a few times, maybe about every 5 minutes. I thought it's about to die as i have a previous soniq 32" tv that's still in our other small lounge room that also suddenly died, can turn on but no signal in any channel. I decide to try other channels and to my surprise other channels are working fine, doesn't restart by itself. Observed for a few days and it's only happening when tuned to channel 9, 90 or 91. Just interested to know if any ozbargainers had experienced similar issues before?

Signal problem in your area with ch9? Interference or antenna faulty maybe?
Can you borrow another tv from someone and see what the reception for ch9 is like on that. Sets today usually will show a signal strength meter, compare that with what the others are delivering.
I have seen a long time ago where uv light can hit the sensor at the right angle at certain times of the day and can affect some tvs, change channel or turn them off. That was a long time ago in tv years.. lol.

Common cause is from having an external antenna and lighting strike to the antenna killed the tuner. Hook up a dvd player and it will probably play a dvd?
You can get external tuners reasonably cheap if that is the case and you want to still use it. Dont get it repaired, new tvs are cheaper.

Wow, thanks for the insight…yes, the 32" tv was able to play DVDs. Is external tuners same as setop box?

Yes; but i think theres something else goin on here.

Idential timeline as my 42" soniq.

        Identical symptoms.

        Channel 9 only.

Same issues exactly. Not the signal, connections anything else plugged in was taken out, updated etc. Can't work it out. Only reboots itself on channel 9. Did anyone get a fix for this?

Holy shit my symptoms are identical.

Channel 9 range only, reboots constantly in under 2 minutes every time.

Tried a factory reset and no luck. Literally ever other channel is fine. Please report back if you find a fix, io only watch GO so this makes the tv useless.

I emailed Soniq this weekend and they tested one of their TV's today and confirmed they are getting the same symptoms with any channel 9 as I have had this happening since 22/10/2019.
They state that this has occurred with another channel before when the tv channel conduct frequency testing.
They assume it's the same issue and suggest trying channel 9 in a few days or even a week or so as they may cease testing.
Mean while we've just deleted the channels and will re-load them in a week or so and see what happens but frustrating is an understatement and I jkust don't understand why it's only happening with one brand of TV, as everyone I know with other brands is having no issue, just us Soniq users.

I tried reflashing a different firmware which didnt help, so it's not a cache or 'temp files' thing.

God its annoying, I only watch GO!

I think just hang tight and wait a few days or a week to see when it improves.

@KRVracing: Any further contact with channel 9?

Its less frequent, but god its annoying.

@MasterScythe: no, but we have since connect an old set top box just tuned to channel 9 and it's working ok. but on the set top box one of the channel 9 channels, maybe it's 91, it doesn't produce any sound.
