Perfect, looking at one in jb-hifi, but the prices are crazy.

Opinions between this and the mi9t

    • Mix 2S to Mi 9T Pro here. If you want 5G, go the 3. If you don't care, the form factor of the 9T Pro is just right.
No VoLTE (yet) on Telstra with the 9T Pro. Only LTE.

MI 9T has a triple camera set up with a 48mp lens, headphone jack and uses a snapdragon 730

      However

Mi Mix 3 has 5G, wireless charging and uses snapdragon 855

IMO Mi9T is the better option

      • +2

you meant Mi Mix 3 is the better option, right? wireless charging and SD855 wins for sure.

        • Honest question, why is wireless charging such a plus over a regular cable?

          • @gcar304: Never think about charging.

Just chuck phone on wireless charger pad at home and at work.

Feels like I've never charged my phone or think about it.

Wireless charging has been around forever .. had it on nexus 5 and nexus 7 2013.

          • @gcar304: I have found wireless charging stations at Hungry Jacks, it was really useful

          • @gcar304: Yes your connector will eventually break from continuous use.

        • If you care about the chip you can always go for the Mi9T pro which has the 855 and I would prefer having a headphone jack over wireless charging

      • +2

5G version of Mi Mix 3 does not have wireless charging.

      • Effectively 12Mp with pixel binning except for really bright conditions. Both really good with GCam APK.
Mi 9T Pro and Mix 3 5G have SD855. No real difference in daily performance between Mix 2S (SD845) and 9T Pro. FWIW Mix 3 (non 5G) is also SD845.

    • One huge + for 9T Pro that I have is that it is more (a lot more) waterproof.

That's a big + for me. The rest don't count for much.

    Half price of JB?

There goes my idea for a post next week 😂 Also currently cheaper than everyone else 😉

    • lol.

  • How's warranty like with Geekbuying?

  • +1

Mi 9T Pro is better right?

    • this is a premium but older phone. IIRC the dxomark score for the camera is really good on this

    • Yes, this is only good if you want 5G and possibly wireless charging, otherwise Mi 9T Pro is far better at this price point.

Good luck getting any kind of warranty from geekbuying, they just muck u around for weeks with no help so I did a PayPal dispute and they did the resolution in my favour.fyi I would never deal with them again.

    Hmmm, yea great deal.
Now I am torn between this and the mi 9t pro

I was sold on the 9t pro but this seems pretty awesome.

  • According to Xiaomi's website only the 4G Mix 3 is dual sim.

    https://www.mi.com/global/mix3/specs
    Network & Connectivity
    Supports use of dual SIM cards from different carriers;
both cards can access 4G connectivity simultaneously①
Dual Nano-SIM slots; either card can be set as the primary card
    Supports 4G+/4G/3G/2G

    https://www.mi.com/global/mix-3-5g/specs
    Network & Connectivity
    Single SIM card slot
    Supports 5G/4G+/4G/3G/2G

    • Yep, it's that reason I went a oneplus 7 over this phone.

  • Wouldn't a MI 9 @ $600 be a better buy?

    • FYI the Mi9 and mi mix 3 have a smaller battery (3300mah?) compared to the Mi 9t (4000mah) I believe. They also don't have headphone jacks (mi 9t does).

I was tossing between these 3 phones. The bigger battery (20% more) on the Mi 9t sold it for me. I ended up going with the Mi 9t pro.

      • Mi Mix 3 5G has 3800 battery

  • Not related to this deal but has anyone deal with AliExpress? I saw the phone price on their app is quite low compare to ebay.

Factor in the 10% GST they apply at checkout. Usually ends up quite expensive after that 😉

      • Ahhh didn't even thought about Gst. Thank

I've bought a few refurbished phones from them and they've been great; haven't had to deal with warranty though so can't comment on that.

  • How is this compared to the Oppo Reno2 Z? I’m not good with all the phone stats. Can get the phone locally for around that price on sale, with a two year warranty.

    • In have a Reno 10X zoom and it is solid phone. The two main issues I have with it is

      1. It is arguably a bit too big (with a case), I've got big hands too. Personal choice.

      2. Lack of 3rd party roms, you are stuck with what Oppo gives you forever. Their latest ColorOS version is decent enough. If you turn your phone over ever couple of years it won't matter, but if you keep a phone for 5 or 6 years it'll be left behind.

I've decided I'm not a fan of pop ups, I'm worried that it will break one day (so far perfect). The flash/light is in the pop up so it better no break. You do gain screen space but you lose functionality, the Reno 10x has no notification lights since it is all screen with a popup (texts missed calls etc are a pain). They likely reduce the waterproofing.

If I was buying again I'd target something with waterproofing, notifications, custom ROMs and slightly smaller screen over the by screen and raw specs. it is still a very good phone.

  • Nice price, but it appears that this model does not support wireless charging. Probably to make room for the larger battery.

A lot of webpages, including gsmarena, have it wrong. Probably copy and pasted from the old 4g Mix 3.

  • The coupon is also valid for the blue color now!
