Need help identifying Oven symbols

Ok, I'm ashamed to admit that I can't work out what each of the symbols on my oven mean. It's a rental property and there was no manual for it, I also couldn't find much online as other "Omega" ovens seem to have very different symbols.

Does anyone know more about ovens and can point me in the right direction?

Oven

(I think) this is what they are clockwise from the top (which is off):

  • Off - The top position
  • Grill and Base heat
  • Base heat no fan
  • Base heat with fan (But why is the bottom line different)
  • Grill and Base heat with fan

Edit:

I've taken a closer look, and there is actually a Grill at the top, and people are right, it looks like there's no fan. Also no Label or model number anywhere around the door or inside the oven.

  • Looks like what you describe. As to why… not sure.

    I'd be going with:

    • Horizontal lines = heating elements (one at top, one at bottom)
    • Zigzag = grill
    • U shaped thing = unsure - does it have a warming drawer?

You should be able to check the grill options by turning on for a bit and just seeing if the grill goes red hot.

  • Online Manual?

  • There's no serial or model number anywhere visible?

    • Good point I'll look tomorrow morning.

Hmmm… I'm not seeing anything that suggests your oven is fan-forced.

My guesses, clockwise from the top

    • Off
    • Conventional Oven (top and bottom element on)
    • Baking (bottom element only)
    • Grill
    • Full Grill (grill plus top element)

It's an electric oven, turn it on to each setting and watch which elements glow hot.

    • This.

Page 9 from this will help too, for when to use the different elements

    • There no exposed elements so can't see anything glowing. I've had it on the one you said was convention and it did seem to burn the top a bit.

Should mention that there's no "grill" area. It's just one compartment, and no element on the top like a typical grill would have.

Lots of people love the Monkey Island games.

      • I just got that. Took a couple of days. LOL

  • I see what you mean…pretty cryptic. Top left looks like it’s the self destruct switch

    I don't think it's fan forced.

    All the manuals are here
    https://www.omegaappliances.com.au/customer/manuals

The model number is usually inside the door or on the body of the oven where the door meets the body.

If the model # decal has come off then send a photo to Omega and they will ID it for you.

    • Thanks that's a big help. So the Zig zag is definitely Grill and the Flat top and bottom is convention oven.

Just need to work out what the curved line means.

      • I think it's a dish. I know that makes no sense.

    • I actually went through all the manuals for the OP and the only one I could find close to it, I posted above. (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/492532#comment-7894269) :) Best if OP contacts Omega directly for an older manual

        Woah…but why?

          Better than doing assignments :)

  • Just play around with it and see what happens. If that doesn't work , contact the real estate agent and ask them.
