More a deal for fans of the series, but in my opinion one of the best sci fi series released and cancelled prematurely.

It's Firefly on Blu-ray. 'nuff said.

Why is it being released again? Is there a difference between that and the old blu ray edition? It says it's exclusive to amazon BUT WHYYYYYY

    • Last release was US version, wasn't released in UK as I understand it.

      • Ah okay, makes sense. Took them a few years.

  • <3<3<3<3<3<3<3 Firefly

  • Must.Not.Buy.Set.For.The.Fifth.Time.

    • I'm trying not to buy as I have on DVD, but I think at about 32 bucks combined, it's gonna be hard to resist.

  • +1

Couldn't help myself, bought the Series and Serenity.

woz it coz poor Joss Whedon ain't a $layer no more and needs the money!?

    • I think the Director of The Avengers will manage, somehow.

  • +3

    Bring back firefly and TSSC!
    P.s. Dollhouse sucked

    • +2

i liked Dollhouse and firefly …. both cut short too early

  • Feature set is identical to the DVDs… eh, I'll wait until they break or until standard consoles/players don't play them any more.

  • Firefly & Legend of the Seeker are two shows which were cancelled far to early

    • +1

Was Legend of the Seeker any good? I've read all the books, but halfway through the first episode, I felt it deviated too much and stopped.

Plus any name that starts with "Legend of…" just sounds cheesy.

      • +1

It was too cheesey for me.

It wasn't like Hercules & Xena. Their sillyness was charming and they sort of poked fun of themselves. They were half cheese, half drama.

Legend of the Seeker was an attempt at mostly drama with a teeny tiny dose of poking fun at itself. Sort of like the exact opposite balance of Jack of All Trades (almost all cheese, undercurrents of taking itself seriously).

      • +1

Season 2 of Legend of the Seeker is a lot better due to a major shift in focus and the addition of another lead character.

You should give it 3 episodes and if you aren't into it after that then it probably isn't for you.

      • I felt the same. I stayed on to watch another few episodes but then called it quits. As a stand alone series, I probably would have given it a go, but when compared to the books it annoyed me. I mean, he didn't even turn the sword white which was kinda important!

Game of Thrones on the other hand is a brilliant adaption!

      • I am a HUGE fan of the Sword of Truth books. I have never enjoyed reading anything as much as I did that series. The show was… good - but only as a standalone show. You cannot go into Legend of the Seeker expecting it to be like the books because you will only come away disappointed.

The show was fun though - will pretty excellent production values. The only thing that bothered me is the accents. 95% of the cast are Kiwis putting on American accents… poorly. I know Terry Goodkind is American but surely all the characters didn't have to be!

  • I loved firefly, one of the best TV shows Joss Whedon created.

    FIREFLY had it all…
    Great Production Values as well…

Never Got Dollhouse thou.. I am going to get one of these..!!!

  • have both dvd and blu-ray sets, and can confirm the blu-ray quality is really good. some scenes are obviously meant to look poor quality, but the CGI scenes look amazing.

  • is this remastered

  • Complete series? I don't think so.
    Complete half-series maybe (sob).

  • +4

For those asking about the quality, whether it's remastered etc and who can't be bothered to read the review linked by OP:

"Firefly" makes its Blu-ray debut with a fine 1080p AVC Mpeg-4 transfer in its original aspect ratio of 1.78:1. The show was originally shot on film and features a purposefully dirty and grainy look that helps to solidify its western look. "Firefly" has a weathered and almost brown-hued look to the majority of the show, while scenes set in space show a much more robust image with deeper blacks and more vivid colors. This picture quality variation helps to visually differentiate between the show's rapidly evolving settings. The show isn't what many viewers would call "pretty," but this Blu-ray version deserves praise for reproducing the desired look of the show. Marcoblocking, edge enhancement, noise and other picture artifacts are never a distraction, fortunately. In comparing the Blu-ray version to "Firefly" on DVD, this set offers a clear upgrade over the blurred and displeasing standard definition image. Sharpness, detail and color reproduction are vastly surperior while helping to preserve the film-like look that the show aspired to. "Firefly" on Blu-ray is clearly the best that this show will ever look. Recommended.

    • that doesnt say if its remastered or the same bluray transfer as the older version.

      TL:DR

      • thats how i felt, pushed through anyhoo

        • I was only joking (ironically).

  • it is a great series,
i'm not a die hard SF fans,
but this has a very good work both on the actor, postproduction, and writer sides.
