Who doesn't want some Kangaroo essence and its 10 dollars off!

Also, more DRM crap, if you want to go down the capsule route, use the old ones where you can buy from a vareity of makers. Instead of this Nespresso only crap.

    • Are all the nespresso machines now DRM? I buy some other brand, Nespresso compatible pods which are much much tastier to me. But the machine is definitely on its last legs…

Vertuo is fairly new so only Nespresso's providing capsules right now.
So while the new machine is cheap, you need to factor in the proprietary capsule cost.
I'm with garratt torlesse on this one in using an older machine that has cheaper compatible pods that can be bought from many places.

Nespresso gets you in with their cheap machine price and shafts you with their capsule prices. Been there done that.

For the taste and price per capsule, even 3rd party ones, it's not worth it. With the Vertuo series, don't even bother. Good for corporate or hotels where convenience is important, but if you primarily use it at home, buy a proper espresso machine, grinder, fresh roasted beans, and you'll be saving money and getting better coffee in the long run.

100% agree not to mention saving the environment

    • Yes !
      Spot on !
That's exactly what I did after using an aldi and a espressotoria capsule machine.
Aldi coffee was a bit rough and the espressotoria was pricey with nowhere near enough kick.

Now I grind fresh and punch out some really good coffee and it's a lot cheaper.

    • You can add fresh coffee grinds to reusable capsules.

I got in on the eBay deal for the latissima one, best deal on a coffee machine ever for me. 100 capsules, really good milk frother.

Proper espresso machines costs much more, are much more difficult to maintain, but whatever floats your boat

      • Been there done that as well. I've got one of those stainless steel pods with seal sticker for my Nespresso machine and the amount of grinds you can put in those reusable capsules is very little (compared to a single basket on an espresso machine) and the taste is very average still.

Yes, proper espresso machines cost more, it's actually not that difficult to maintain, and it produces better coffee than any capsule will every make. Capsule wins on convenience, that it. But then, my Breville BES870 takes 30sec-1min to warm up, 30sec to grind and tamp, another 30-45sec to extract. Taking my time, it takes 3 mins. Milk is frothed on my old Nespresso Aeroccino (when I'm in a hurry) whilst I'm making the coffee. Compared with capsule, it probably takes 2min 15sec more, but for a better coffee, I can use that time.

  • Do these meet the T&C for the nespresso promotion? https://www.nespressopromotion.com.au/YEP2019/promotion/main

Costco is listed as one of the participating retailers when you go through the application process.

      • not anymore. they removed it. do you have a screenshot that it was there?

        • No I didn't take a screenshot at the time. Shame they removed Costco as it would have brought the price down to under $50

          • @ireciel: Costco was a retailer last week. I bought 3 to give as christmas gifts and have lodged my claims but to date haven't had a response from Nespresso.

            • @Matt P: Hopefully you get your cashback. I was about to buy 2 this evening expecting the $100 cashback to still be available. I am glad I checked OzBargain before buying.

            • @Matt P: Does your claim say costco? Can You Send me a screenshot just in case they refuse my claim. Then I have a back up. Thanks heaps

              • @lfak: I messaged Nespresso on Facebook and their reply is that Costco is doing their own internal promotion. Basically the $100 discount Costco is running at the moment on the purchase of a Vertuo machine is the equivalent of paying full price at another retailer and claiming the $100 back from Nespresso afterward.

                • @ireciel: That's not correct as per there terms:

                  Participating Retailers-
Retailers who sell Participating Products in Australia and operate from shop fronts in Australia including both the physical shop front and online store operated by such retailers.
A Participating Retailer is not www.nespresso.com or the Nespresso Club via phone 1800 623 033 or Nespresso Boutiques.

This does not mention Costco in anyway.

              • @lfak: the claim email i got after submitting was for a different promotion entirely! They messed up substantially on this one.

                • @Matt P: Did you get your cash back?
                  Mine was unsuccessful.

                  • @lfak: did anyone get their cashback? I checked their website prior to purchasing and it stated on the FAQ that participating retailers are listed on the drop down box on the claim form.

Since purchasing it, the form has changed and my claim for 2 machines were unsuccessful and the T&C now explicitly states Costco is NOT a participating retailer.

The call center said the best they can do is give me 3 sleeves of coffee…….
