[NSW] 7.5kw Solar System (6kw SMA Inverter) Fully Installed - $4990 @ All Green Environmental Solutions

160

Here is a deal I have been unsure about posting, as solar deals arent really for everyone, and everyones specific wants needs are different.
I do not recommend someone getting solar without doing their own research first.

a few years back I went to get solar for the house, and in the end put it off, I got quotes through solarquotes, and this company (All Green Environmental Solutions) were by far the best (no pushy sales, reasonably priced, and been around for a long time, so if any issues arise you should have after sales support).
I have followed their facebook page, and been on their email list, and for the last 6 months been waiting for something to come along which I consider to be a good deal.

now there may be cheaper deals out there, but after doing my own reading, I decided to go with something a little more expensive and go with an installer I know will give a good install, and after sales support.

the deals

6.4KW System
5KW SMA Inverter
22 Canadian Solar 290w Panels
Clenergy Mounting System
Fully installed
$4490

7.5KW System
6KW SMA Inverter
26 Canadian Solar 290w Panels
Clenergy Mounting System
Fully installed
$4990

12.5KW System
10KW SMA Inverter - 3Phase
38 Jinko 330W Panels
Clenergy Mounting System
Fully installed
$8770

part of the deal was an advertising sign for 3 months ($450)

I also added the SMA Energy Meter onto my quote which was $600.

  • Any reason for adding the SMA Energy Meter?

(I do not know a huge amount about solar and would like to know more, not having a go at you)

to monitor consumption and not just production

It allows you to look more closely at your generation and usage hour by hour and over time so you can try and adjust when you use devices to maximize the use of your own solar. I have one for me set up and use it a bit but it a nice to have so if you want to cut the cost you can do without it.

      • thank you

    • as the others mentioned, for consumption monitoring.
without it you can still see how much you are producing, just not what you are are consuming.

it isnt something that is required, however I wanted to get it, because I am always looking at my AGL app, and looking at my usage.

    • Emonpi or iotawatt are much cheaper options, but take a bit more setup. But don't forget which website we're on here.
An emonpi cost me $300 2 years ago, and no one else gets my data.

This does not depend on government rebate (not sure if any still exist)?

Also, is there a value to place solar on non sun facing side of roof in winter time?

    • this includes $4375 STC credit from government rebate

non sun facing side of the roof… as in having it face south? no value.
but there is still value in east, west and north

      • Thanks.

Already have a 5kw system that taken north facing roof.
East n west would not take as many panel.

Since already use rebate, probably look for deals on 10kw (?, no idea how to size required storage) battery system to soak up unused generated electricity for night use instead of more panels…

    • Clause will be you sign over any generated Small Scale Technology Certificates (STC)

  • Quality of panels/inverters aside - looks like a good deal, i paid $8.5k for a 6.55kw system a few years back

If you want to get some solid detail on the above go to the solar install forums on Whirlpool Forums and ask, amazing knowledge base there with some smart cookies who know quality of panels, inverters etc…(albeit a Perth solar install forum)

SMA and Fronius are sort of the market leaders in inverters, so the inverter is fine.
I think Canadian Solar are pretty good panels, definitely not yum cha brand. You could probably get higher power ones, but bang for buck it's probably not worth the extra doing that.

I'm thinking about getting solar for my house but there are just so much information.
Can anyone suggest if this is a good deal? We use about 28kwh/day

    • Same, been wanting to get an install but there are so many installers/setups around now it's hard to know who to go with and if it's a good deal without a deeper understanding/knowledge.

      • +3

I was in solar for 6 years. There are two things to a good solar system

        1. The expertise of the installer.

        2. The components.

The components here are very good. If the expertise of the vendor is good like the OP says then they are good deals I would buy.

(Personally I would also Google all the reviews on the vendor I could find).

        Hope that helps.

        • It does! Was worried about getting cheap quality ones but thanks for confirming these are good.

Will check out the reviews from the installer. Thanks!

Maybe a silly Q but is there ever a reason to get way more than you use intentionally, besides future-proofing? Eg.. in this case, would it be silly to get the 12.5kw if the 7.5kw will do for me? Like is it worth getting more just to sell back to the grid?

          • @Devil: That's a very good question not a silly one because there are cases when the answer is yes.

But it's a complex process to get to the answer. It requires a lot of information about your specific use case plus physical limitations such as roof space and direction, and then working out the optimum amount of kW for all the factors.

It's too big a job for an ozbargain comment.

So test the solar company by asking them what size you should get. More than likely there will be limitations to what you can do vs would be optimal anyway.

When you use power is also something you need to understand.

  • How would this compare to getting it done from Tesla's new solar program?

  • Does this supplier work in Qld as well?
