    Of all the original Super models, the 2080 was the biggest lemon of the bunch. However given the dollar and the fact it's still better than a 2080 under $1k it's not too bad.

      A 2070 super is better than a 2080 and costs around $300 less than a 2080 super when on sale.

        I haven't seen the 2070 super beat the 2080?

        Value wise I agree though…. It's probably the pick of the high end on Nvidia.

        All the Super models were clearly engineered and priced 'beautifully' to fill gaps.

          2070 super uses the same chip as the 2080, I'm pretty sure it clocks higher.

        Mwave has an ASUS RTX2070 Dual OC on sale for $799, that's $300 saving off the cheapest non-sale RTX2080 Super for anyone wanting that path.

            @[Deactivated]: While it was a good deal the thing was a Windforce, arguably one of the worst cards a person could purchase. Also, wasn't that assuming a person uses Cash Rewards?

            Also, did I mention this ASUS gives COD: Modern Warfare via redemption ;)

              @Ebany: Lol I bought that Windforce, it's going great. OC'ed really well and isn't noisy at all. Oh and I redeemed Modern Warfare (though I'd never actually play that shit, I didn't realise I could have sold it)

        Never seen a 2070 super better than 2080 , i got my 2080 for $899 which was $30 more than the cheapest 2070 super at the time

      I know, been hoping to hold off but my GTX980 and GTX1060 now struggle. I also need a GTX1080 or better if I'm going to stream games through my Nvidia Shield, a little something they didn't tell me when I purchased it.

          Let me rephase that, need a GTX1080 or better to stream games in 1080p or better.

          Here is Nvidia's "current" support answers, these seem to change - can find the info under streaming in 4k.

          Here is the same answer but with conflicting information, it says you only need a GTX970 and i5.

          I've since discovered a person can stream games over a good hardwire connection with a card as low as GTX590, however the quality is terrible until you have a GTX1080 or better, only then can someone achieve 1080p or 4k.

        I upgraded mt GTX 1060 6GB to an RTX 2060 and it's about 50% faster in gaming benchmarks on myu system at 1080p. The NVenc2 encoder may be better than the NVenc in the GTX 1080 you mention for streaming to the shield.. I don't have a shield so cannot test.

      OK, so I've read a bit and apparently the Super variants was suppose to be nvidia's comeback to amd's rx 5700 and rx 5700xt, but even the rx 5700xt doesn't even come close to 2080 performance, unless extremely overclocked, such as the case with the gaming x version of msi's offering - jut oc it more and it could beat the standard non-super 2080….

      EDIT: the 2080 Super is suppose to slot in between the 2080 and 2080Ti, performance wise, so no idea how that's a lemon…?

        The 10 series was so much more straightforward. Well till the 1030 mess…

        It's not a lemon, it's just completely falls off the performance per dollar scale after the 2070 Super. Tbh I would just go the extra step and buy a 2080ti instead.

              Quickly comparing the 2070S and 2080S shows only a 13% overall increase in performance. The $1k mark was my upper limit for a 2080S and $650 for a 2070S so I'm torn.

              Still think I'll go this 2080S though as the price is great and I love Galax's 1-click OC.

                @Ebany: Mate there's no point going for a 2080S. The 2070S uses the same hardware as the 2080, so is only slightly slower (shown in benchmarks). The 2080S is nowhere near worth the 30% price jump over a 2070S for something like a 10-15% performance increase.

                Now, if the 2080Ti is worth it for an additional $400 (regularly $1399 on sale), that's up to you. But if you must go for a high-end card then it's stupid to get the 2080 or 2080S instead of the 2070S or 2080 Ti if you have cash to burn.

          They can charge what they like up to a certain point given that there's no other option if you want faster performance than AMD can provide.

        Because a 2080 super is often only a few percent better than the 2080.

        It was the worst of them.

        2070 super definitely is where the smart money is.

        First benchmark 72, 75 and 91fps at 4k in F1 2019 for the top 3 (2080, 2080s & 2080ti)

        2070 super had a bigger jump over the 2070.

    Nvidia is rumoured to launch their new cards sometimes during the 1st Half of 2020. Will be on Samsung new 7nm EUV HPC node. Advisable to wait if you can.
