How Much Money Does a Bus Driver Make?

I have a friend who's interested in being a bus driver in the Sydney hills region, how much is he expected to earn for a bus driver job? Anything he should be aware of regarding this job (Advantages/Disadvantages)? Thank you!

90K + if you do lots of shifts and overtime.
To be aware of? Druggie passengers.

I suppose it's one way to get paid to travel.

I saw this in a movie about a bus that had to speed around the city, keeping its speed over fifty, and if its speed dropped, it would explode! I think it was called “The Bus That Couldn’t Slow Down.”

He steps on the clutch and the toilet goes flush. Hail to the bus driver.

Is he intending on working for Hillsbus? You should tell him that I don't think you have to be a $#&% to work there, but it would certainly help him to fit in.

  • In case your friend is interested: research shows that the brains of taxi drivers are more developed than bus drivers re routes because bus drivers drive a fixed route vs variable for taxi drivers.

  • Driving for the STA details here. I can't imagine private companies vary too much.

  • It's a commission only job

I got held back in the fourth grade myself. Twice! Look at me, man. Now I DRIVE the school bus!

    • Help each other out! That’ll be our motto!

  • Heard about these bus drivers that would probably get into a lot of trouble if they were married that go around picking up super hot looking very friendly young woman and have to drive them to places. I don't think the drivers are very smart you never see the girls pay them any fair money before they get in.

    I have a friend

    Yawn, here we go again

  • I have a bus driver "friend" (no really! It's a friend) that earned about 75k/yr with Hillsbus (or similar nearby company) I think, but that included working shifts on every 2nd Sunday and a couple additional overtime shifts every week, so 50hours give or take / week. The 38hr base rate salary was under 60k/yr. He eventually moved to Murrays, and couldnt be happier.
