Can confirm very useful especially for uni students who have friends with ultrabooks that only have USB C.

  • +2

Heard rumours this one is incredibly slow and barely reaches USB 2.0 speeds.
Any owners can confirm or tell about the transfer speeds?

    • +7

I've heard the same. But bought 2 anyway.

Own two and the speeds are slow. One of mine died within 3 days of use. I can read data but can't write to it. The USB is in write-protect mode forever and you need to get a replacement in order to fix the issue. Formating the device does nothing.

      • +2

I had the same issue, I wrote to Sandisk in USA, after a few messages going back and forth, they asked me to destroy my usb stick and send them a photo. They sent me a new one from the USA by airmail.

        • +2

I want to see this photo.

        • Did you need show them the original packaging? I have same issue with Sandisk 128gb micro sd card from few years back.

Also does anyone know if this usb stick has disconnection issues on mobile phones like small Sandisk USB C drives from MSY?

@Rage Roze: You have to get in contact with them first, then they will ask you to send the defective product (I said I had sensitive materials on it so I was reluctant to send). Then, they will ask you to send 4 photo of the products on a sheet of paper, with your name and case number (that they will provide) written on the paper. 2 photos prior to destruction and 2 photos after destruction. They will ask you to drill a hole in the device, I have no drill but a hammer … worked as fine.

PS: I also CCd the receipt with my original complaint

Transfer speeds are okay until the drive gets quite hot which, unfortunately, happens rather quickly. At least, that’s what I’ve experienced with mine.

    • USB 3.1… but slower than 2.0 speed? Can anyone confirm?

      • +1

What I mean is technologicaly, it is actually 3.1 and conforms to it standards, but because of poor thermal design it slows down really fast.
Kind of like the new MacBook Pros - cram in Intel i7 processor but when it heats up after afew minutes you might as well be using a Pentium.

        • +1

ahh okay, fair enough, heat becomes the issue. Thanks for clarifying!

Is it a hands warmer as well?

The write speed is around 40 MB/s with my drive. I'd say that transferring a 1gb file takes under a minute, 2GB file takes a bit under 2 minutes and so on. If you are working with larger files the speed will drop significantly as time progresses. I once transferred a 15GB file and at the end write speed was around 18 MB/s

    Back in stock

  • These don't fit well if you are plugging into a port next to power cable or other connectors- the slider is in the way. My laptop leaves little option so have to unplug something to use this model.

  • Thanks OP

  • Thanks got one. Didn't even know I had a 5 dollar voucher so even cheaper hehe

    • were your philips LED bulbs cancelled - mine were and they gave a $5 for the inconvienience.

      • +1

No I stupidly bought a golf table thing thinking it's a full size…. They laughed at me and refunded and gave me a 5 voucher haha
