  Wouldn't the clipping points tend to activate/interfere buttons on sides of some phones?

  Otherwise I might pull the trigger on this… (have an Axon 7).

    Yes true, I have a phone with centrally-positioned volume keys too and have had issues with other mounts that have a single central clamp.

    To use this particular one you'd have to mount your phone in an off-centre position to avoid the buttons. Would probably still be okay as I think this style of mount would be a bit more stable than some other ones because of how it is attached to the dash.
