Hey folks any suggestions for a mid range home theatre projector. I guess $600 to $900 budget… Weekend use for sport and movies.

  • I've been using the Vivibright GP100 for 2+ years now. Got it on a deal for ~$230 from gearbest and it's been going great so far. Fantastic resolution even on bigger projection sizes. I found a lot of positive reviews on OzB about it before purchasing and I can now understand why.

I'd recommend that model and it'll save you $400-500. If you're focused on warranty, then probably look at other brands.

    • do you have dust spots issue on GP100 ?

      • Nope, not so far. The project came with a lens cover that I put on when it's not in use. I must have wiped dust maybe twice in last 2 years using a microfiber cloth without any issues.

I got the epson EHTW5600, it is currently on sale here https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Epson-EHTW5600-Full-HD-Home-Thea…

  • I saw this one and was wondering if it performs ok. Are you happy with it?.

Epson TW5600 is the best projector under $900. Very good with Sport. Good with movies. Ebay seems to be the cheapest as chack008 mentioned. Epson do have refurbs on their website for around ~$600 but none are available at the moment.

Make sure you buy a decent screen. Something like this is very good. Use code PLENTY100.

    • Oops, just noticed you mentioned the second store…
They seem to come up reasonably frequently.
I initially missed out whilst double checking that it would be suitable for my existing ceiling mount location, but the same deal came up a few weeks later.

  • Thanks for the feedback. I think this model does seem have some decent reviews and to be honest it seems such a leap to the next couple of brackets of projector I'm sure this would meet our needs.
A bit more research …but may pounce on the ebay offer.

  • Keep you eye on the Epson Australia seconds store.
I picked up a TW5600 earlier this year for $689.40
