I've got 12 months free with a recent apple purchase. However, given you can't cast content to a TV (only apple TV boxes allow television viewing) I'll probably never use it.
There are apple TV apps for Macs, iPads, iPhones, so you can watch them there…
They are releasing Apple TV apps for most TV brands soon like Sony Samsung etc

I should say, the production values seem to be fairly high with what I've seen so far, so it's worth a look.
The quantity of content they have is laughable though, but fine for a free trial (though for me, Morning Wars only really started getting better in the third episode, so you'll miss that if you only have the two free episodes). Apple will certainly need to have lots more content in 12 months time if they want to get subscribers.
Do we need to sign up to view free episodes? Because that would be pointless due to 1-week free trial.

When I logged in with my apple ID, it gave me one year free but did ask for CC for verification. apparently it will charge $7.99 in Nov 2020
The whole Apple TV plus should be free. So little content!
