Mercedes B Service Alternative Service Providers in Melbourne

Hello, I have the largest Merc SUV and it has just passed the 3 year included service plan.

Previously I've been paying around $1200 per service and the last service they told me that my rear disc brakes had to be changed, that costed a bomb. I'm somewhat suspicious of that but then again I'm not an expert and went along to change it.

Now just wondering if any of you know/go to any alternative/reliable service providers?

This latest quote from my Mercedes provider for the B service is $699 and that's already a "special price" and they said can be done in 1.5 hours.

Has anyone used Euro Motosport?

I use F W Graunke in Ferntree Gully for both of our MB's. They are a fully fledged MB service centre and have an hourly rate of about $150 compared to about $250ph for a dealership service shop.
        B service runs about $500

        • These guys have been on my radar and I know where it is. Good to get your feedback for someone that uses their service.

  • Note that Mobilolife/Roadside Assistance can be considered invalid if you do not continue services with the dealer. Items like brakes can be done by third parties no problem though.

Lol @ buying the biggest, and probably the most expensive SUV Mercedes Benz makes and then complaining about service costs. :D

PS I bring my own oils, screwbaru charges me $180 and Kia $120, would DIY but under they're warranty. Wonder what paying ten times for a service gets you apart from a lighter wallet? is the complementary instant coffee better?, complimentary waiting room lap dances?

        After having worked at "premium" car stealerships, it's just a case of;

"Hey, they were a sucker to over-pay for one of our vehicles, wonder if we could stitch them up at service time as well?"

And it's all under the guise of experienced "factory trained" technicians… Most of the time these places are full of apprentices and young guys just out of their trade.

        • I know right.. figured I need to have a OzB in every aspect 🤞

That's crazy. $1,200 is already a discounted price? Gee, what's the price without the plan?

  • Gets spendy once your capped price period is done and dusted as they can start charging full retail again. Call different dealerships, you'd be surprised their prices would be different. Assuming yours is a GLS350, your 8/9L of 229.51 approved oil at $30+ a litre that the dealer charge starts to add up real quick along with the air and combi filters. Try and find some savings there would be a start.

Check your existing service invoices to confirm if the part numbers are correct. Been ordering stuff from them for a couple of years with no dramas.

    • Thanks for the heads up and link. When you purchase your parts, where do you get them fitted?

      • Gone back to the dealer. When you're only doing a single service a year, $150/hr vs $209/hr (that's what my dealer charges) is a bit of a moot point.

  • Heads up. A lot of the newer Mercedes don’t have aftermarket brake discs or pads for them as yet so even going to a third party might result in them having to buy genuine brake parts so might be the same price or more.

In that sense agreed - wasn't suggesting to use aftermarket brake disc. Regarding the brake pads, I did get a quote from Euro Motosport back then and the price was pretty much similar as it was original merc product. I'm after the generic servicing alternatives, but still using original products.
