LG 27UL850-W 27" UHD 4K IPS Monitor $599 + Delivery @ Shopping Express

90

Was after one of these myself, and it looks to be the cheapest price available.

EDIT: For context I bought this because it was well reviewed amongst USB-C 4K monitors at a reasonable price, because my laptop only has USB-C.

Expires at Midnight today (13/11/2019)

EDIT: Warranty is 3 year manufacturer warranty

Is there any use for 4K at such a small size?

    • Well on a desk it's alot closer to you so it does make sense for gaming or graphics design at that size.

    • In terms of ppi, these are still WELL below phones, and everyone loves that. I popped into a shop the other day and looked at a bunch of monitors. 27 4k seems to be ideal for me.

Edit: damn not on their ebay page. Wanted to use the discount GCs with this price =(

      • They have another model (27UL600-W) on ebay, cheaper by $74 too
I am not sure about the differences though

        • Not USB-C.

        • No usb c, no height adjustment, no speakers, no usb hub. In reality the ONLY thing I need is the height adjustment lol =(

Nice pic of how far you sit to screen resolution and size.

  • FYI - 60Hz only.

    • I’d consider 60Hz to still be the standard for 4k. Your options above that at the moment are few and grossly expensive.

      • Not to mention pointless. Good luck driving a 4K resolution with 120/144FPS.

  • very tempting
    how is warranty like though…..

Edited the post, looks like it's 3 years manufacturer warranty through LG

    • Had to use it one time, really painful. There's like only one outfit in Sydney, and they were rather haphazard. We had to organise drop off and pick up, and repairs for the UK model took a few weeks!

But when it works, it's a great monitor.

    • I've got the first revision of it - the 27UD88. Had the USB-C port fail a few months back, had to wait 1 month to get the parts from Korea. Now there's screen bleeding/image retention around the edges and have to take it back before my warranty expires in 2 weeks.

Painful thing is the repairer is about 45mins to 1 hour away from me and I live in Brisbane, LG refuses to organise a pickup.

Besides that, it has been alright although I would've preferred the 5K retina display from Apple as you can still see pixels on the 4K.

  • Edit - never mind, was thinking of a different model

Here's a good review on the predecessor to this monitor (LG 27UK850-W) by JayzTwoCents. Despite being 'only 60Hz' and having 'fake HDR' this is a great monitor.

    • Yup bought that monitor at launch for … $1000. So this is definitely a bargain compared to the original price and definitely worth it.

Have no regrets buying that monitor.

  • Good monitor, nice price.
