I was just checking amazon on my order, when I noticed the price had dropped to $69. I choose this audio interface as it has good reviews, and can provide phantom power. (First post please be kind.)

All Behringer stuff used to be rubbish. Nowadays it's like they are single handedly putting the power back into people's hands. Making great gear for cheap money.

  • same price at store dj right now

  • Can you connect this directly to a speaker to make it a PA system?

    • Passive speakers? Pretty sure not. This doesn’t have a speaker amp.

    • It has audio outputs on the front and back, but input is either from the USB which connects to the computer or xlr or 6.35. However, it is mainly for recording with a microphone and onto computer.

    • Only a powered mixer will be suitable as for making a PA system. The Behringer UMC22 is an Audio Interface with MIDAS Mic Preamplifier, so you can connect it directly to an amplifier via the stereo RCA output.

    • Thanks guys

So for someone who doesn't know this stuff, but is looking for a gift for an amateur guitarist, what would you use this for?

    • Recording the direct input from the guitar as opposed to recording it through a microphone. Can plug in the mic and also for speakers and headphones.

    • You can plug a guitar in via a 6.35mm plug and then record it to the computer.

      • How do I connect it to my guitar?

        • +1

          By a very long cable…

        • Your guitar might not have holes haha

          • @demoiree: It has one big one in the middle.

    • He can plug a microphone into it and record his amp or acoustic guitar. Alternatively, he can plug his electric guitar directly into it for a slightly more anaemic sound that could still work well within the context of making recorded music.

    • Electric guitar > UMC22 > computer > program like ableton/fruityloops running guitar amp VSTs (they can model thousands of amps and styles now).

      or

Acoustic guitar > microphone plugged into umc22 > computer > recording program (or vsts).

It helps if you put the type of item in the title. If you are just skimming through the deals and have no idea what a Behringer UMC22 is, you need to waste time and unnecessarily open the deal to find out if it is something of interest. Simply adding "Mic preamp" or "midi interface" or "phantom power" etc. after the model would make for a better title. Nice first try anyway.

Not sure why I get negged any time I ask for the description in the title to be less ambiguous. Surely that can only help the community? I was only offering a suggestion for a new member to make their posts more valuable and readable, I wasn't criticising them at all.

  • damn it… missed it. (was waiting for payday today) DJ City is back up to $89 too.

I'll wait for the BF sales and see if it drops.
