But you are trying to control a fan? I doubt it will reduce the temperature that fast to trigger the automation.
Just get a high end fan like this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/496566 with a remote and use the remote.

Or get somethign like this https://www.msy.com.au/d-link-dsp-w118-mini-wi-fi-smart-plug… plus google home mini, then you can operate the fan by voice ;)

    • Controlling the fan, I'd voice control the fan from my Google mini, or over the mi app.
I'm new to the xiaomi hub and curious how it all works.
I thought if this was the right way to connect my existing xiaomi stuff, I'd branch out further.
(Provided that the items listed are correct in starting a whole system)

Those smart plugs look good and will probably pick some up though! Thanks

Automation is only good if it's practical for your life style.

I found simple things like turning on TV/Fan/kitchen light by voice very useful.
Btw those smart plugs were under $20 week ago.

It'll be an expensive investment getting the hub, temp display and smart fan. Just get a Wifi controlled plug like Brilliant which costs $19 or so and a regular fan. All you need is Wifi and SmartLife app installed on your smart phone and you are ready to go. SmartLife app offers home automation settings based on temperature, time, sun rise, sun set etc. You can add all sorts of Smart globes, PIR sensor etc etc later on too.

You can use these smart plugs without Amazon Alexa or Google Home.

    • Yup i figure it's not a going to be cheap, would i be correct on the 3 current items linked to start an automation though?
I do own other mi products and a Google mini.

As mentioned above, the smart plugs are definitely a goto but also I'm looking to further expand the mi automation in my household :)
      thanks for your input

Once you get Mi, you're stuck with it for better or worst. With Tuya compatible smart devices, you're not restricted to just one brand and there's so many in the market.

That temperature sensor is Bluetooth, it will not connect to that hub which is a zigbee hub connecting through your wifi. You need the xiaomi bedside light which doubles as a Bluetooth hub connecting through your WiFi.

    • Thank you! I'll refine my search for the correct item.
