Samsung 7.1.4 Channel Soundbar HW-Q90R $1088 + Shipping @ Appliance Cetnral eBay

PLOTS20

Original Coupon Deal

Been keeping an eye on this one for a while. The previous cheapest was $1090 + shipping as per this deal

I was considering the Bose 700 + bass module for a while. But this seems like a good price.
Shipping to VIC is $40 for me. Wonder if JB or TGG would price match.

Mods please edit as you see fit. Thanks.

  • This thing is amazing once all set up and running. For a sound bar, you will not find a better ATMOS set up.

    • What about listening to music on this?

    • you will not find a better ATMOS set up.

Have you compared it to the Sony HT-Z9RF? The cheapest price atm is $1292.

EDIT: Found it for $1,274.15 at Wireless1 eBay.

  • What the hell is 7.1.4 does that have something to do with low/highs?

    • +2

7 channel as in fronts rear and surround and centre

      1 as subwoofer

4 as 4 height speakers (front and rear), in this case just speakers up firing.

In reality it's closer to 5.1.4 as they don't have additional separate speakers.

      • Are right the .4 gives you the Atmos. Cheers for the breakdown

  • Anyone know how this would compare to the Sony Muteki from a few years ago - been considering going for something a little less obnoxious

    https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/sony-htm7

    • Haha mate. I've got muteki 6.2 from 2007 which I'm looking to replace with this too!

  • I've never had a decent sound system and decided to go the sound bar route.

Thing is, I was planning on getting with new TV this time next year for the PS5.

I've heard that I should wait to buy a new TV because of the Olympics and it will be second round of 8k, etc

Sound isn't changing though is it?
Should I just buy this now (or black Friday) and enjoy that till I get the new TV?

Any audiophile opinion would be good cause I know nothing about sound except it can get loud.

    • +2

I would go it now as I have never seen it this cheap before. I got it to go away from the whole Surround Sound Set up and wanted something more simple with wireless speakers etc.

It truly is amazing. If you have a look on any review on this soundbar, you will see other than a couple early errors, nothing in its class matches its sound quality.

    • just buy this now (or black Friday) and enjoy that till I get the new TV

      This.

8k broadcasting is planned in Japan in time for the Olympics - not in Australia. For an immersive cinematic / sporting / gaming experience get an OLED TV of the biggest size you can afford and a decent Dolby Atmos compatible soundbar with a sub and rear speakers. This setup will last you for many years and will be compatible with PS5.

Take a good look at the LG C9 deal (55" or 65") from Appliance Central eBay.

  • Can anybody recommend a soundbar for less than $250? For playing music from a computer and watching TV in a small apartment.

    • This pops up on here from time to time.

      • Thanks! I'll keep an eye out.

  • Interested on thoughts from anyone who owns this. I don't have a lot of Atmos content. Just basic Netflix, Prime etc. Does that mean the need for Atmos soundbar become redundant?

My usage well be 60% for music streaming.

    • For whatever it's worth reviews all seem to rave about this sound bar, and its Atmos implementation. That it has proper rear speakers counts for a lot, too.

Thinking of grabbing one to replace my ageing 5.2 system.

  • Thanks for the deal OP; like you tossing up b/w this or Bose 700; cheapest I have seen Bose 700 with sub module is for $1500. Is it worth the extra price? Cheers. Any other recommendations in the same price range?

I too have been tossing up between these two models. As mentioned above, all reviews rave about this as being the best soundbar. Have a look at rtings for example, here's a comparison of the two, but make sure you check the full this too:

      https://www.rtings.com/soundbar/tools/compare/bose-soundbar-…

My concern with the Samsung is quality, but it is full Atmos; based on feedback from Bose it won't ever support Atmos as it obviously requires additional hardware (upwards firing speakers):

      https://community.bose.com/t5/Home-Theater/Soundbar-700-E-AR…

That said, I'm tempted with this deal….

      • thanks mate! It is tempting but I am gonna wait and see if Bose is under $1400 come next week with Black Friday deals. If not, I will then go for this one. Cheers.

        • This one will be done by then…

I have had this for 4 months and can highly recommend it. It does scale the sound to surround for basic Netflix too. Make sure you have eARC on your TV for connections.

    • I have a 2015 Samsung TV with ARC but not eARC. Will this soundbar work for me and if so will it be overkill ?

  • How are the back speakers powered - are they battery powered?

    • Yes, you need a power point for each…

  • hi @all, i called JBHIFI they price matched this, they did ask me to pay for the p&p which was bit cheeky since i was coming in to pick it up but i paid half of it, this system is $2,000 in JBHIFI, I bought it and set it up on weekend, serious steal at 40% cheaper i wouldn't risk waiting for the black Friday. I had to take a screen shot of this deal and send to manager for approval

    • +1

hey mate any chance you could provide a copy of the receipt/invoice? thanks.

    • or if you could let us know which store you ordered it from? Thanks.

    • +1 for a copy of the receipt to use as evidence of price match please… :-)

    • Also waiting for receipt so i can get price matched.

  • @arnomic I bought it from Camberwell store in Victoria, I had to email the manager to get approval

    • In Melbourne

    • Thanks bud. None of the JB stores I called were willing to match this price. Cheapest I got to was $1403.

    • Can you upload receipt bud

  • either way, this is brilliant sound system and i would buy it from Appliance central if you cant get to JBHIFI this is a total steal

  • Does anyone know some good speaker stands for the rear ones?

    • ordered from ebay like many others as per whirlpool forums.. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/173695348494 40 bucks

      • Perfect. Do they hold them up fine? Thanks

        • receveied just today will try one i get home..

          • +1

@phokati: Awesome! I don't need them right now, as I move out in a few months so I'm keeping the speakers packed away. Thanks for the offer though very kind :)
