    • I have seen that one but I thought this was considerably different enough to warrant another post. This has a larger screen and a faster CPU but it lacks in the other components.

      • Yeah, quite different.

This one is quad core, the other is dual. This one is 320GB, the other is 750GB. This one is 15.6" (JB's 15" is inaccurate), the other is 14". This one is a 6570, the other is a 6750 (the other is much better for gaming). This one has 2x2GB and can't easily be upgraded to 8GB, the other can.

Sort of depends what you're after.

EDIT That one also has USB3.0 whereas this one doesn't.

        • All in all the other deal is for a far superior laptop short of the CPU

The GPU is hugely more powerful in the other machin

        • Yeah, the other one has every advantage except the CPU and possibly the screen size (which is better there will vary from person to person).

I'm leaning towards this not being worth it… but it is the only 2630QM notebook with a discrete GPU I can find anywhere near this price.

    • thats like comparing cherries to watermelons

  • I believe it include the 15% off with JB right now.
Might be cheaper at the shop…..if the tag is already at a reduced price.
But 320GB isn't quite enough….600+GB HDD is probably a better buy.

    • You could probably haggle it down a bit more in store.

  • i just got a DV6-6024TX (2630QM, 750GB, 6770) from DSE @ $999 with> 2 years extended warranty

my local DSE matched the nextdoor JB's 15% off for last night only.. so the lappy by itself was a great deal @ $850 (it's listed @ $1192 @ JB lol)

  • Which one would be better for video encoding?
    Cheers.

    • This one is better due to the faster CPU.

      • Just confirming this - the quad core would easily win in any maths reliant operation like video encoding.

        • Any GPU accelerated Video Editing and ENcoding program will find the laptop in the other post to be better it bench's about 50% more than the video card in the laptop

        • Would you mind linking a source for that? I'm having trouble finding relevant benchmarks.

    • mixed responses here. Wouldnt this one be faster because it is quad core?

  • might be able to price match at Officeworks and get 5% off consider there is $0 postage! that will come down to $805.89 if they have any in stock or sell it! good price!

  • Consider the other one if you want good gaming.. choose this one for good theatre and office use..(this one used for office will last you 3 years easily)
