Beware of Common eBay Scam - Galaxy S8+ 64GB Deal on eBay

To the ozbargain family,
Just checking in to let you know of an ongoing scam -
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Brand-New-SAMSUNG-GALAXY-S8-PLUS…
I purchased an S8+ 64GB on the 4th of November. Immediately alarm bells started ringing.
Seller claims to be based from Melbourne on the listing - yet provided a sketchy looking tracking number from Hong Kong that hasn’t been updated since it was provided.
Seller will also no longer respond to my messages since my original message asking for a tracking number on the 5th of November.
Long story short, I realized I’m not receiving the item.
I can't leave feedback for him yet - my eBay account is still new.
To all my fellow ozbargainers - don't be an idiot like me and fall for this scam.

Assuming you paid up front, just ask ebay for a full refund

Ok. First, with just 6 feedbacks i won't touch them.
But, is it 999 a good price for s8+? I won't buy s8+ for more than 700 tbh.

Agreed, wouldn't trust them with a $1 item, let alone a $999 item

1st mistake — spend $999 on a 2+ year phone?! Even Target is selling it for $699 and much cheaper elsewhere even on eBay. Yes you've been scammed, but not just AU stock vs HK stock.

    Lmao 6 feedback and a $500+ item.

    Come on.

Just raise an ebay/paypal dispute, wait for your money back and be more careful in future.

Open an eBay money back claim or a PayPal buyer protection claim if that fails. Hopefully you get your money back. Ton of scammers on eBay atm.

  • Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Very nice of you to pass onto others considering.
Shame these things happen to good hearted souls such as yourself.
