      Here ya go - "Whey powder is a common protein supplement made by dehydrating whey, the liquid byproduct of cheese production. Skim milk powder, another milk-based protein supplement, is made by dehydrating milk after the removal of the majority of its milk fat content. While both are excellent sources of protein, the type of protein and nutritional content of whey and skim milk powders differ."

    Que “how does this compare to Bulk Nutrients, VPA…”

    • +1

      Depends on what you're comparing: flavours, nutritional profile, value for money? But as far a quality goes, ON Gold is one of the worst. Added ingredients include soy lecithin, Sucralose and Acesulfame-K (artificial sweeteners) and FD&C yellow #5 (a carcinogen containing food dye which is now banned in Austria and Norway and requires a warning label in the EU).

      • Damn, I bought 2.3kg from the Amazon deal here recently. What's a good brand?

        • +1

          Bulk Nutrients. Try the Natural WPI or WPC, taste amazing. No artificial sweeteners.

          • @pformag: Currently use ON but I'd be interested in trying Bulk Nutrients WPC; You happen to use their 'Pre Workout 101'? Curious to hear your thoughts if so.

              @MattyAu: I just use their protein. The service is also unreal. I bought two bags last week and 1 bag had a slice in transit and messed all in the satchel, they sent me a new 1kg bag today for free and I got to keep the other 1kg.

              I have a shot of coffee and CM as my pre-workout.

          Professional Whey have some of the cleanest products I've found. I'm a fan of their unflavoured WPC: https://www.professionalwhey.com.au/aus-whey-protein-concent…

          • @aldroid: ON gold standard is primarily made up from WPI,then WPC and lastly Whey peptides. It is comparing two different types of products.

            You do have good information on the different added ingredients, however the pure WPI from professional whey is a lot more expensive. =(

              @Cyrax: I understand what you are saying, but the % protein is comparable and I would challenge anyone to show me any real life differences in taking WPI over WPC. The only benefit of WPI is if you are lactose intolerant. The differences in carbs and fat content is negligible (unless perhaps you're cutting for a comp, maybe) as is absorption rate. I used to take WPI but swapped to WPC several years ago and haven't noticed any difference (other than in my bank balance). I also take a hydrolised collagen protein and occasionally a night-time casein protein. Personally, I do not see the point of a blended protein like this. And I would much rather take a clean WPC over a toxic cocktail like the ON Gold anyway.

                @aldroid: exactly right.
                The big american nutrition companies like ON and Muscle Milk focus on taste and add heaps of fillers.

      • Is ON Gold really that bad? A majority of online reviews for it are super positive and most of my friends use it too.

        • Then it must be good. Just look at the ingredients list and do a bit of research.

  • I just tried the coupon on this link
