  • I just got this phone free with the Optus $59 deal over 24 months

I was paying $36 with optus per month for 30gb's and upgraded
Total worked out to be $1294 over 24 months..

i have a 20% discount for 12 months that carried over so minus the $36 i would of been paying regardless the phone is costing me $430 interest FREE over 2 years :)

It's weird with the discounts carrying over. My wife came from a 12 month plan with a 25% "friends and family" discount. It carried over to a 24 month plan, so she ended up paying $44.25/month with a free S8. Not sure how that happened.

      • I walked into a store to get the phone.. The store rep said you have a discount that carried over… he asked me if i wanted it removed.. i said NO :)

        • Crazy question!
But thanks for letting me know. We may try it out.

          • @Make it so: My guess is that when my 12 month sim only plan ended a new "20% account" discount was added to keep my bill at the same price going forward.

Happy to have it carry over to the new plan but its a shame its only 12 months.

          • @Make it so: So does this apply to any renewals with Optus? I have a 12m SIMO contract expiring soon and could be tempted with an upgrade if there's extra discount to be had

            • +1

@Tovers93: It only applies if your current plan has a discount and if something weird happens that causes the discount to be carried over.

      • yeah thats weird…Discounts NEVER carry over…that bloke didn't know what he was doing and the community wins! haha

        • he said it was an account discount of 20% over 12 months :)

Anyways the contract i signed showed a total cost of $1294 over 24 months vs the $1416 it should have been

      • The $59 deal is still going

I'll take my Note 8 over my wifes XS.

I think this is a pricing error as there is another entry for this on the online store for the original price.

    I placed an order.

    • Says to be quantity unavailable

    • It says Consignment ID: 1653xxx – Confirmed

  • My order failed but they still charged my Paypal account.
Looks like Paypal will cancel the transaction eventually..

They have the s9 plus for $800 on their website , only when you select the black over the coral blue colour .

  • (profanity)!! SO MANY GOOD DEALS MISSED TODAY!!!

  • What happened to Samsung phones keeping their $1000 value for ages?

    • They keep releasing new phones every 5 minutes, and do deals with telcos, suddenly everyone has one and the resell market is flooded + repair prices are excessive

      • +3

Naah its the education store and EPP deals. They are killing the resale value.

  • Anyone who bought this, mind sharing the receipt so I can try my luck price matching?
