Odd that they've called it a food sealer and not a vacuum sealer.

Vacuum sealer noob here - do these things take generic bag/rolls from eBay etc or are they specific?

    • +3

They do take generic rolls, but be warned… I have been sealing for 10+ years and noticed some ebay bags/rolls are very cheap, but they just don't hold the seal and many times I have to seal twice, or double-bag etc, and even then the seal is poor.

I have always had complete success with Target-supplied or Sunbeam rolls/bags, but the traget ones are so much cheaper.

Fun fact, last week I opened a bag of BBQ chicken breast I packed and deep-froze over a year ago and the taste/texture was on-point. So to make the most of it, use a deep freezer if you have one to get years of storage, but otherwise still get many months from your kitchen auto-defrost freezer.

Excellent, thanks for the advice :D

Do the rolls last you a long time?

        • +1

The rolls are long and I try to use as minimal plastic as I need for the job. They are much cheaper than the pre-cut bags but yeah, last ages :)

Do you own this brand, or you're explaining this in general? Just wanna know if this is worth buying.

I own the Sunbeam brand food saver but use the Target-brand bags. I give one thing though, Target do sell quality generics, and with a generous return policy you can't lose.

  • i got one of these and didnt last very long, ended up replacing with the aldi one and no issues yet

    • As in it failed/broke?

      • Failed after doing a big batch just couldn't seal properly after about 5th bag was leaving gaps

  • I just ended up buying this one from Kogan, seemed decent with the 20% off rolls in the same transaction + 3% cashback

    • Scales on the lid is pretty pointless unless you only sealing a single bag. If you are sealing up say 10 or so you want to be filling bag on scales while sealer is sealing one. Process line type

  • Aldi have one coming up in next catalogue

  • I have one of these and it's kinda crap :(

The suction is not that strong and there's often bubble gaps everywhere.

    • I found that as well

    • Mostly positive reviews for the ALDI one. Might grab that and get the cheaper Bellini rolls from Target.

  • Hi guys

Would you recommend Aldi's over target? Aldi's is 39.99+14.99 (2 vac rolls)

Target $40 with 2 rolls after $10 sign up coupon
