The cheapest I could find. This is newest announced lens from Sony.

Manufacturer description: Sony’s first 16-55 mm (24-82.5 mm full-frame equiv.) APS-C zoom with a constant F2.8 aperture is remarkably compact while offering performance befitting the G Lens series. A new optical design delivers excellent corner-to-corner resolution, and beautiful bokeh is available when needed. It is compact, lightweight, and ideal for a wide range of subjects.

Everyone please be mindful this is a crop lens, not a full frame lens

Good remark. Notice there’s no FE in the title

Also no stabilisation so more suitable for the a6500 or a6600

Sony wants their APS-C system to fail. Crappy pricing.

Yeah it's expensive and overpriced but so are most of the new lenses from the competition:
      Fujifilm XF 16-55mm R F2.8 $1600
CANON RF 24-70MM F2.8L IS USM ZOOM $3900 (full frame but similar zoom range)
      NIKON Z 24-70MM F4 S ZOOM $1600
      NIKON AF-S 17-55MM F2.8 G DX IF ED $2200

    • Unfortunately this is the way these systems are going. Low volume high margin. Ultimately more and more people are relying just on their phone, so these systems aren't moving enough to justify a lower margin. As biggles points out, they're all doing it.

  • good lens but too pricy

This lens + top APSC body is too expensive

    Sony A7III + Tamron 28-70 (was around 2280 + 1100 at digidirect few weeks ago = 3380)

Sony 6600 + this = 1999 + 1688 = 3687. With 6600 you got real time focus and a selfie screen, but that's it, everything else is inferior.

  • Thanks OP picked one up today, Sony store price matched I used with with the current Amex offer. Using with a A6400.
