Sony BRAVIA KDL40EX520 $849.99 @ Costco

140

Popped in to Costco Sydney today and grabbed one. It's good enough for me as I don't need 3D. Will buy a WDTV HD player for it;-)

It was a good deal. I've checked price before buying it.

$999 on DickSmith online

  • Shit I didnt get an email about coupons being out, wonder if they are just for Sydney.
    Not how it normally works.

    • Coupons for this were handed out at the door for the opening of the Sydney warehouse.
I suppose this is a Sydney only deal.

For anyone who's interested, I found the coupon (along with a few others) on the Costco website:
        http://www.costco.com.au/coupons/Costco2011Jul20.pdf

The T&Cs don't mention any store/state-specific restrictions, so I would assume this is available at all Costco stores.

        • +1

          Yes it does
"Offers are only valid at Costco Canberra and Auburn"

It's an opening special for the two stores.

          Whoops my bad. Reading fail!

      • It's in Canberra as well.

        Edit: beaten! :)

Costs $60 for a membership so factor that in to the price if you don't have one.

As a suggestion, you can get the TV, then return a week later and ask to refund your membership and get the full $60 back, no questions asked.

    • Thats the spirit!

and do it again next month when u go to costco, thats another smart idea for avoiding the fee :)

      • +9

After a few months you'll be on first name basis with the membership staff.

        sigh

        Negged on my first day.

Won't work a second time. This would be strictly for the TV and you have no intentions of going back. The second time you won't be allowed a refund of the membership again

Apparently it's only OK to rort the system if it's not Costco… because you know, any place that has to charge $60 before you're even allowed in the doors must be doing it tough…

        • Ferret - oh please, you must be kidding, or did you get up on the wrong side of the bed?

I think I will be able to save $55 a year (business membership), plus my partner is surprised to seen something like Borghese active mud. So I'll be happy to be a member…

      • +3

In most cases, you'll make the cost back within one or two visits if you decide to use it instead of Coles or Woolies. Been a regular Costco visitor since day one here in Melbourne. It made grocery shopping fun again :-D

I was under the impression you could cancel membership after your done shopping if your sphincter is tight enough

    • NO! I just bought that 10 pack of Tempest 5 Gum :(
where do you find these coupons?
And it looks like time to stock up on toilet paper!

    • I am also curious where you find the coupons…
I am a Costco USA Executive member but they never seem to email me anything about Australia despite the fact I have it as my address on their sign up form :(

I went to the Sydney opening picked up a membership saw a few good deals but none worth the 2 hour wait to get served I can't wait for the Brisbane store.

    • Costco, aldi, ikea….they all have very poor customer services and painful check out.

      • Compared to who? Myer??? ROFL

  • It was $999 a couple of weeks ago making it $880 now. Any update on price?

    • The pic says 959.99

      • Yes it does, but if you read the original post or look at the PDF in the third post you will see that you get $110 OFF up until the 31st, bringing the price down to the quoted $849.99 :)

  • Duh, thanks.

  • For even 959.99 + the membership your still saving $240. I payed the 1245 from JB about 4 months ago. Good Tv :)

  • Does anyone know a way of getting free membersip?

Also how much is the Sony Bravia EX720
46" LED LCD 100Hz Full HD 3D TV its annoying how the price is not in there, it just says $200 off how de helll am i suppose to know its warehouse price?/

    • Yes go with a friend who has a card.

      • And make the friend with the membership pay…
They won't let YOU pay unless YOU have a membership card ;)

        • The cashier I had was very anal about who paid as well. The credit card had to have the name of the member.
          So…. free TV anyone?

    • Sydney July 22nd it was $1699.98

      • Which would mean it's $1500, not too shaby.

        • Thanks for replying with the price dirtybird - you saved me a trip :)

I agree it's a good price Trance N Dance but it's not a HUGE bargain for the EX720 even with the $200 off…
A quick search online will yield a few other stores around the same price point (about $1550).
The EX520 was a bigger bargain both dollar and percentage wise :)
