      Great scott!!!!

  • Which sd is suitable for the dji mavic mini?

For longer streaming reliability, get a "security camera" / DashCam or "surveillance" MicroSD since it will tolerate streaming and overwrites. the price jumps a lot, because it uses a more expensive form of flash storage, usually SLC or MLC NAND memory. 32/64gb is around $30 to $50 IIRC,

but if you only record once or twice a month, go with a regular MicroSD and export/copy everything.

MicroSD density has drawbacks, mainly that writing new data is destructive, reading the data isn't. Same as SSD's, because they use similar storage tech.

Find a DashCam forum or look for DashCam approved MicroSD's.

      All of that said…

use the 200gb or 64gb MicroSD cards, just expect them to stop working and need a reformat every so often, or produce corrupted footage segments after a few months of use. YMMV.

they are MUCH better than they used to be, but high-density MicroSD is more prone to corrupt files unless they get broken up into 1-2 minute file segments to avoid corrupted bits.

    Waiting for amazon to match

Same. Stack up all these deals. Buy from Amazon AU, get them delivered and avoid the crowds at shopping centres.

  • Would this be suitable for the Nintendo Switch??

    • +2
    • I believe this card meets the requirements, so it should work.

However, the Switch will benefit from higher performance cards. Specifically, faster read speeds will reduce load times. (There can be a lot of variety with the performance of SD Cards. Video related uses often benefit more from write speed for example.)

      For the Switch, I recommend:
      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/sandisk-extreme-microsdxc…
      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/sandisk-extreme-microsd-2…

The officially licensed Switch MicroSDXC Card is U3 A1 with a quoted performance of up to 100MB/s. (Love those [*Up To] speeds…)
The 200GB Ultra quoted performance is about the same with a maximum read of up to 100MB/s but is only U1 A1.
The U1/U3 rating is based on the minimum write speed. U1 is 10MB/s. U3 is 30MB/s.

The Extreme cards are U3 A2.
The A1 / A2 is "Application Performance Class" based on minimum IOPS. A1 is 1500 Read IOPS. A2 is 4000 Read IOPS.

They've had 1TB micro sd cards for a while now

      • Any idea what a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 can hold max?

Or max capacity for a Huawei Mediapad M3 8.0 WiFi version.

I am pretty sure my tablet my Huawei Mediapad M3 8.0 has a 200gb micro sd card already but my Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 have been holding off because was thinking to put a 1TB or the biggest possible card that is compatible.

My guess is 512gb but I don't know.

        • MicroSD HC and MicroSD XC are what you want to look for in the compatibility/specs.

          As they're 2016 models that's around 256gb for SDXC.

It might be 400gb/1tb compatible. But, the price also gets prohibitive once you go past 256gb or 400gb, so YMMV.

          • @toliman: If the $88 512gb gets any cheaper it might actually be better than some of the 256gb deals.

I am well aware fake cards still exist but do you really think jbhifi is running some kind of scam?

Welcome to 2019 micro SD cards upto 400 GB can be had for less than $100 bucks. Even bigger cards do exist upto 1 TB but they are pretty expensive at present.

      • got a 512 for 88 the other day after a bit of ebay coupon work.

      • What is the best price you have seen for the 1TB.

Yeah I might wait for the $88 512gb micro sd card one again unless the 1TB micro sd card is compatible with my devices (Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Huawei Mediapad M3 8.0 WiFi only version) and not too far off $/GB or $/TB compared to the 512gb.

Offline downloads use a lot of space now and games getting bigger and bigger.

  • I don't need this.

But it'll be nice to have it to expand my music library. I download new stuff every year.

  • is this one better? https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07SNCGNRG?ref=myi_title_dp&th=…
Need one for my nintendo switch

    • I personally don't like 3rd party Amazon sellers that aren't well known businesses

  • I've heard these A1 cards are good for Dashcams. Any one able to confirm?

  • Would this be compatible with Galaxy S8? Not sure why but Samsung site says some cards may not be compatible with the phone.

  • Hey guys, anyone know if the write speed will be suitable for Go pro hero 7 black?

    • +1

I haven't had the best experience with the sandisk ultra's in a Go Pro 5. I'd steer clear.

      • Thanks for the advice! Any that you would recommend then?

        • I've been using Sandisk Extreme's (32gb for $16 from officeworks) for a while and they've been fine.

  • Would this card be a good for recording video on dji osmo pocket? Cheers.

  • will officeworks price beat this?

    • So simple, ask them !

  • Good for the Note 10 plus?

    • Generic mean fake when the label says Class 10?

"Speed performance rating: Class 4 (based on SD 2.0 Specification)
This is an aftermarket of generic part"

  • Ultra edition isn't good for mobiles, drones, 4k content, etc.
    This deal is better: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/500910

Extreme 128GB with writing up to 90MB/s for $25.20
Extreme is the best choice if you don't wanna overheat your device and drain the battery with low speed memory cards.

    • Can you elaborate on the overheating and higher battery drain using low speed cards?

I currently use the 128gb version of this deal's card for my Go Pro Hero 7 black filming at 4k/60fps.
Battery life is quite average so I assumed it was just normal for the settings I've chosen.

      • +2

This A1 card has poor writing speed, it not even has video classification which is indicated by the letter V
In order for the device to save the data with such low speed, it process more to do its job which end with extra heat due to the hard work, and since it has to process more the battery drains faster.

I used to use this model 32GB on my camera and mobile, so pissed until I learned the difference.

Currently I have a GoPro Black Hero 5 with an Extreme 32GB V30 on top of my helmet as dash cam. Fully charged I can have almost 2h at 1080p/60fps before the battery is gone.
No more problems with my Galaxy S8+ lagging as well.

V30 means video classification up to 90MB/s and minimum 30MB/s writing speed and has 4k/8k capabilities.
The price difference between these cards are nothing but has a huge performance difference.

        • Ah interesting! Makes sense too. I always thought anything above class 10 suited most video recording, and the top end cards benefits were utilised the most with DSLRs.

I just checked my cards again and totally forgot I switched to Samsung EVO Plus U3

          Cheers for the info
