where do you put in the code?
On the checkout page, there's a checkbox on the left hand side under the Shopping Cart that says "Use coupon code". Check the box and it'll let you enter the code there.

When buying through PayPal use USD still so that your card provider decides the exchange rate and it's normally cheaper. Came out to 1¢ each time for me.

Make sure you set currency to USD for the site next time. And use USD still through PayPal to get a better exchange rate from your card provider.
