How much is the toothbrush normally?

  • You have to actually trade in one of the models below (I thought I was going to send in my used 'manual' toothbrush…)

$50 Cash Back if you send in:
Triumph with Smartguide IQ5000, Triumph 4000

$30 Cash Back if you send in:
    Professional Care 500, 1000, 3000, 3000 Dual Handle,
    Sonic Complete 2 & 3, Pulsonic

Cash-back is given back in the form of a Citibank gift card.

Saw the promotion on TV the dude was holding a 'manual' brush, ok am confused now

      1. Promotion only applies to the following products (“Participating Products”), which must be purchased on or between 1st July 2011 to 13th September 2011 (“Purchase Period”):

      2. To enter: Purchase a participating product from any Department, Independent Electrical, Pharmacy, Grocery or Dental practice and send by mail (1) completed coupon (attached to these terms & conditions or visit www.oralb.com.au), (2) a photocopy of the purchase receipt, (3) consumer’s old toothbrush; to Oral B SWAP Promotion, PO Box 759, Brookvale NSW 2100.

      3. Refund will be provided via Citibank giftcard within 30 working days of receiving claim. To activate the giftcard, call Citibank on 1300 370544. The refund amount will be uploaded onto the Citibank giftcard and can be used worldwide, online and over the phone at any shop that has Mastercard capabilities

    • Yep, the trade-in is pretty crap when you consider most ShaverShops regularly have half price, $50 off etc on Oral B auto toothbrushes.

    • where does it say you have to post in oral b electric toothbrush?

After reading it i understand it as receive $50 cash back for buying "Triumph with Smartguide IQ5000, Triumph 4000"

Only $30 cashback for the others.

doesn't make sense otherwise, cause it limits their customers to ppl who already have a oral b.

If you are in the market for one, then u cant take up this offer cause you dont have an old oral b to send in.

      just saw the other post.

  • No you send in any old toothbrush (manual), and receive $30/$50 gift card when u purchase the above models

    • You are right. You can send any old tooth brush. But isn't it stupid idea? Who wants to handle old tooth brushes and then disposing them. Instead give $50 or $30 off will be convenient for everyone. This cash back promotions are waste of time and resources. May be the manufacturer is not trusting the retailers will pass the discount to customers.

Things like this have less to do with 'trusting' the retail channel and more to do with maintaining perceived value. If they simply drop RRP by $50 it makes their product look cheaper ie "inferior" to others, whereas if they maintain their RRP and offer "cash back" they aren't cheapening themselves in the eye of the average sheep consumer who equates price to quality.

If they simply drop RRP by $50 it makes their product look cheaper ie "inferior" to others

Or if they drop their RRP by $50 they make $50 less on every toothbrush that they sell.

If they use a cashback they only make $50 less on those people who make a purchase AND know about the cashback

        • +2

and they can also claim a certain percentage didn't fill out the form properly or return it in time.
I've had both excuses given to me and in both occasions, I am 110% I filled out the form as required by the Terms and Conditions and submitted it weeks in advance of the closeout date.
The again, I've also had 2 cashbacks from the same offer (sent in my claim form by post and by fax to be doubly sure they got it!), but I'm still down $100 or so.

    OK, so the T & C says:

To enter: Purchase a participating product from any Department, Independent Electrical, Pharmacy, Grocery or Dental practice…

Doesn't specifically say that it has to be an Australian seller.
    Professional 500 is the cheapest.

Cheapest Australian - Billy Guyatts for $79.12 -$30 rebate

    but

Cheapest from UK - Langton Info $54 delivered - $30.

    Do we take the risk?

    • Do we take the risk?

At missing out on the cash back, having no warranty or using a potentially non compliant electrical device?

      • Missing the cash back.

The toothbrush should work without any modification from the UK. As for warranty, I suppose you could send it back to the UK but a 1 year warranty on a $50 toothbrush is probably not worth worrying about.

        • The toothbrush should work without any modification from the UK

It would work as they use the same voltage but i think that devices for use here in Australia need to be approved for use. So if the toothbrush charger caught fire and burnt your house down and it was not approved for use in Australia then you could have problems with insurance.

    1) Toothbrush trade-in is a pretty stupid concept…
    2) It's not "cash back". You get a pre-paid credit card.
    3) ShaverShop regularly have better specials than this on Oral B auto tooth brushes.

"Ok am forced to say this is my first post, be nice :("
OK, I am forced to neg this…

    • 2) It's not "cash back". You get a pre-paid credit card.

      It is the same thing.
A pre-paid credit card is as good as cash.

      3) ShaverShop regularly have better specials than this on Oral B auto tooth brushes.

Do you even understand how the promotion works?

You buy the toothbrush from "any Department, Independent Electrical, Pharmacy, Grocery or Dental practice" (Which can be the shaver shop) and then you send off the proof and they send you a gift card.

      • Ever tried to use a Pre-paid Visa?
Doesn't work at a lot of places, they're marginally better than Gift Cards, but not nearly as flexible as cash!

        • Ever tried to use a Pre-paid Visa?

I haven't but i have a Visa credit card which works everywhere.
I thought the idea with visa gift cards was they worked where ever a visa credit card worked.

    the question has been asked.

I'm looking at $50 off ?what?

    thinking,,, no deal.

    • $50 Cash Back :
Triumph with Smartguide IQ5000, Triumph 4000

      $30 Cash Back :
      Professional Care 500, 1000, 3000, 3000 Dual Handle,
      Sonic Complete 2 & 3, Pulsonic

A quick Google search will find you the prices. e.g. $80 for the 500 - $30 refund.

Pro 3000 $25 off th $119 @ Costco if you have membership:

Also the costco deal is for the 2 pack, so you get 2 handles. Picked one up tonight, they have heaps in stock.

      • But can you claim twice for this 2 pack? According to the conditions on the Oral B Flyer, point 9 states consumers submit up to 5 claims, provided each is associated with a separate purchase.

        • But can you claim twice for this 2 pack

No because for the the 2 pack both handles come in the same box so you only make 1 purchase.

    • Great deal, i bought this on ebay for like $135pp.

Awesome toothbrush, battery lasts for ages. Dual handles also.

  • Just bought the Triumph IQ5000 for $145 at Priceline so - $50 cashback then $95 for top of the line toothbrush, yup i'm in.
you guys can also buy them from ebay, as long as the company/department/seller is in Aus. Oh, ebay also sell much cheaper toothbrush heads compare with bigw or woolworth.

    • be careful with the brush head on ebay. I believe the ones under $2 a piece are not genuine.

      • cheers for the info, i think so too :), but lots of genuine brush heads at ~$3.5 , $4/piece

        • The shaver shop regularly has the 4 pack on sale for $18-20 which is nearly the same price as ebay and you know they will be genuine

This is a good deal but these have been blown away in quality and performance by the new Philips series that has just hit the market. OralB cant dump them fast enough. For ex. the top of the line IQ5000 is as low as $120 (with $50 off that makes it $70) not so long ago it was $200. nuff said.

What's the difference between electric toothbrushes? I've had mine for a few years and works as directed. The only reason I need to replace it is because it has started to form some kind of black kind of substance on the handle that is impossible to get off.

      • I'm with you. The rubber grip attracts stains. I prefer the older model (discontinued) with plastic grip that can be easily cleaned.

I too find it hard to justify the price difference.

    • where abouts for $120 …i know u maybe used as example of past sale but is there any current sale? i would like to price match but know i will have trouble using online only Big W $120 price for IQ5000 :(

      http://www.bigw.com.au/beauty-health/oral-care/toothbrushes-…

      • priceline matched the $120 price from Big W online …so $50 rebate means $70 cost :D thanks to original poster :)

        • Do you have the receipt for it, As I think Big W has raised the price to $180 :( even though they are out of stock

    • by the new Philips series that has just hit the market

The only ones i can see made by phillips are the sonic brushes.

They are not supposed to be as good as the regular braun/oral b rotating toothbrushes.

I made the mistake of upgrading my Oral B Sonic with another Oral B toothbrush (can't remember the model) from an eBay seller. WORST decision ever. It broke after 3 months. I have suspicions it is a fake even though it has all the appropriate packaging and I bought it believing it was genuine. Warranty? NADA. What a waste of my money. I thought I was saving $25 but whilst my previous electric toothbrush lasted for years (from Myer) this one is now in the bin after 3 miserable months. And guess what? I bought two!!! Why? Cos they were pink and I usually see only blue or white ones around at the shops so I thought I'll buy 2 and save on postage…. ugh! I gave the other one away as a gift =(

Thanks for posting this deal. I have been hoping to replace my broken electric toothbrush for weeks but haven't seen any good deals around! This will definitely sweeten the deal.

    • I doubt it was a fake. If you think paying a massive premium to a department store means that they are going to give you a more reliable product then you are in for disappointment.

      • However they would give me a tax invoice and I have, without fail.. always been able to (touch wood) just walk back into a Myer store and get them to replace any item for me so long as I kept the invoice.

If your Oral B products are genuine, they should come with 2 years warranty tho. Try to contact the Oral B customer service in Victoria :)

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, when I said it was in the bin, I meant it literally. I threw it in the bin =( Also, the ebay seller I purchased it from did not give me a tax invoice. I will however save the info you posted for future reference… =)

  • Anyone want to go halves on the costco deal? I seriously have no use for another one so wouldn't mind splitting it with someone.

    • who gets the charger and the brush heads?

      • I did not think this through at all. my bad. :)

  • Good deal .. Where can I buy the triumph 5000 for $120? Big W link says sold out online? Will priceline or shaver shop pricematch??

    • I checked it this afternoon, they had 35+ of T5000 at my local Big W and now its all sold out… Power of Ozbargain

    • Just wait, they will all be in the bargain bins for $50 in the very near future.

      • Why?

        • coz Philips have jsut released a superior product a similar RRP pricing. See my post above and the excellent post by FerretallicA on 01/08/2011 - 21:36

        • coz Philips have jsut released a superior product a similar RRP pricing

And as i said above, the only toothbrushes i can see made by Phillips are sonic toothbrushes which are not superior to the oral b rotating style toothbrushes.

      • Still no explanation why Phillips toothbrushes would be better than Oral B?

  • +1

I just picked up a Triumph with Smartguide IQ5000 from Chemist Warehouse for $131.39. They are listed for $155 but price matched $145.00 and because of there policy you get a further 10% discount.

  • Anyone sent in theirs and received the card?

    • It's been more than a month and I'm still waiting for mine…
Were they hoping people would just forget about it?

      • +1

It says "30 working days of receiving claim". So let's say a week to receive and 30 working days is 6 weeks so I'd check back after 7 weeks.

  • Just got my Oral-B Citibank Prepaid card in the mail today. Very happy. Looks like you can either use the card as a credit card or withdraw the funds via an ATM for free.
