    This or the Hisense 75R8?

    • I'm in the same boat…

    • Samsung.. The hisense may have better HDR but the Samsung OS way better and hisense abandon their panels with no firmware updates very quick. 2017 hisense can't even get Disney+..

The ru7100 is decent TV nice contrast with VA panel.

Main downsides is not very bright and viewing angles are poor.

    Just FYI.

Purchased this tv a few months ago after owning an entry level Samsung years ago with timeshift features and casting (like Chromecast).

Was told this tv would have the same features but it definitely does not. It also has Bluetooth but only for sound output. Not keyboard or mouse input. It also does not have any PVR functions like my old one that could pause and rewind live tv.

While it's great value and a nice size and decent quality, just make sure you'll be happy with the limited functionality. Otherwise, pay more for a higher spec model.

Edit: Forgot to mention you can't cast to it either, but you can mirror your phone screen. You can only cast things that have the apps installed on the tv. Eg. YouTube or Spotify.

    • I have the 49” of the RU7 series, and everything you’ve stated applies.

No Bluetooth, keyboard or mouse support, PVR etc…

The manuals says it does have them. But there’s that dreaded asterisk that says, “On selected overseas models…”

      Dammit.

    • Forgot to mention you can't cast to it either

I have this TV. I can cast YouTube to it no worries. I can cast to it from my Plex app on my iPhone, but there’s also a Plex app you can install on the TV.

I agree it’s a bit of a let down there’s no PVR, but it has Free View built in.

Our TV mainly has Peppa Pig, Bluey and Fireman Sam on it, so picture quality is fine.

Our lounge room gets lots of light, so there’s usually reflections on the TV. Higher priced models supposedly have anti-reflection screens. If it’s that bad I close the blinds. Easy.

  • Which 75" 4K you use connected to my PC?
I play games and watch Netflix etc off PC, so tv is just a monitor. Needs good refresh rate.
