No protection for lenses like hero 7 … hmmm
They claim the glass is thicker and stronger, and the whole unit is probably a little thinner with this style of lens, but I suspect they're trying to make them a throw-away item, and/or encourage people to use Gopro Plus…
Yes you are right , and so far go pro hasn’t provided any repair or replacement program yet .. . Well hopefully a third pert would come up with some sort of protection accessories but I will pass the deal and keep my hero 7 .
They updated the "GoPro Plus Damaged Camera Replacement" chart a couple of weeks ago, $79usd, about $120aus, to exchange a damaged Hero8:

I've got one on time - I was keeping an eye on HERO7 specials, but this one was too good to pass. :)
Even though eBay shows sold out, don't give up just yet, some stores are still showing local stock for Click-And-Collect orders, so maybe a bit later it will allow the order through. E.g. some of Sydney stores currently still showing stock are:

Because I've got one in the morning for click-and-collect, and I'll pick it up today (store confirmed I can come). So this is fulfilled from local stock in store, not the stock allocated for online orders.
So there's a chance that click-and-collects might release some more stock for online orders. But that really depends on how Bing Lee sets their stock levels for eBay - maybe they just allocated fixed qty of 36 for eBay and that's it. But I reckon it's worth checking again e.g. tomorrow, if some stock is back for eBay sales.
So there's hope. And that other deal with OfficeWorks price match is another option to get HERO8 for around $480. :)
