I think the deal everyone is waiting on is the 65R8.

Noob question -Both Sony and Samsung 65" tv are in same price range as 65R8. Is Hisense comparable to Sony and Samsung?

      wanna know as well

same, seems like for like. sony got some bad reviews with Spotify and YouTube

I bought the 65R8 recently and am blown away by the quality for the price. The colours and brightness are heaps better than the R6/R7 series. I have compared the R8 side by side with Sony and Samsung TV's (unfortunately dont know the model numbers but they ranged from $2000 - $2500 at JB HiFi). The only difference I can see is the R8 is slightly less "bright" but not much at all.. not too sure on the technical terms there sorry.

When not side by side with these other TV's, the R8 at home looks fantastic. Im playing 4k bluray, 4k netflix and was testing those 4k hdr youtube demo videos and looks awesome.

The TV boots up in 2-3 seconds. The wifi internet connectivity is quick. Casting from my phone is quick too (not talking about screen mirror).

My only downside is there is a slight delay in volume control when connected to my soundbar via ARC. Not sure if its due to my soundbar, but there is a slight delay there. Their VIDAA OS is nothing to get excited about either. Anything thats not HD on free to air TV is god awful, but then again nothing on Free to air is worth watching..

In summary, well worth it for the price considering i paid ~$1270 for it. Hope you found this helpful.

  • Just FYI if you're looking for something a little more basic, I picked up a 55R5 yesterday for the office for $495 at TGG.

FWIW these Appliance Central deals are pretty good and I rate this mob highly - have purchased from them numerous times with no issues.

    • How did they lower the price? is it specials in store? Thanks

      • I picked it up for $434 from Appliance Online yesterday. They raised the price after I did though. It's $468 pickup after discount now so still cheaper than TGG ($495 must've been an in store negotiation since it's listed at $595)

        • this tv would be much better than aldi 58" one right?

          • @kalakaar: Well it's a smart TV where as the Aldi one isn't if that's your cup of tea. But the Aldi one is 3" bigger. Some of the buyers said the Aldi one is not bad! I don't think you can go wrong for $444 with the Aldi one tbh. I might get that too lol.

        • Hey that's a great price!

I remember seeing delivery at $55 yesterday so decided to buy local. We just asked for a better price and got it for that.

    • How is their delivery? Do their couriers give you a call or anything to confirm someone will be home before they attempt delivery

      • I've used them twice and got a call both times. One time I didn't answer and called back 10 mins later but due to me missing the call the courier decided to offload my package and bring it the next day. GIven I had been sent a text that morning to confirm I would be home for delivery and I confirmed attendance, I was not pleased.

  • naww why no 75r7?

added for just for you…but deal wasn't as good as others

        tips hat

  • How do I select free pick up boys?

    • There is an option at the checkout.
At the payment screen look for the heading "Review item and postage"
      Check box for "local pickup"

  • Went to go pick up 50R7 inch Hisense TV yesterday, they were very unorganized. Shouldn't they have paperwork ready to give to you. What they said to me was we will email the invoice and warranty for you. It should have 3 years warranty right? I also ask for a price difference as well since I bought it at $745, they also said they will send me invoice for the difference. Haven't received anything from them, I also messaged them, haven't got a reply, they don't reply at all, sent them multiple messages of collecting no response so then I have to give them a call by phone to say I'm collecting the TV. Anyone have these issues? What should I do?

  • Wish the 65RG was on Sale. Hope TGG has one soon.

    • It's available for around $940 @TGG. Saw that in store. The only concern I have is the claimed motion rate is 100hz but reviews says that actual motion rate is 50hz. Apart from that I think no difference than 65r7. I love the Android operating system.

  • Just bought an 65R8 by price matching at the good guys, saves the hassle of couriers…

    • They were willing to price match with an eBay vendor without any resistance or negotiation ?

      • to my surprise - yes

    • Do you have the receipt?
