GeForce RTX 2070 Super variants

This looks like the cheapest 2070 Super around. 20% off $849 to make it $679.20:

Nowhere else is doing a price that's even close, which makes me a little suspicious. Variants like the Strix are quite a bit more expensive. Is it worth getting any of the other variants - are there big differences in performance and/or reliability?

Nah, go for it, it's a good card at a good price. All the variants are the same - a 2070 Super is a 2070 Super. There are differences in cooling capacity and OC headroom, but it's never worth the premium that the higher price cards go for. I'd go for the cheapest 2070 Super, or if you can afford more, the cheapest 2080 (which is better than the most expensive 2070 Super).

    I would get this card.

All cards are sold at "some speed" (1584Mhz, 1783Mhz yada yada) but they all overclock to roughly 2000Mhz.

The only downside to overclocking is more noise and it's a one button process in drivers now so no reason not to do it.

Nvidia cards throttle themselves using four variable including heat and power delivery. Having better components such as the Strix cooler may control how much further past the "roughly 2000Mhz" overclock you achieve but getting to 2200Mhz is considered pretty good so you are paying more for a chance of not very much more performance.

I'm a fan of buying reference designs so that other cooling can be added later. If you can fit it, the Artic Accelero Xtreme IVC ( https://www.arctic.ac/worldwide_en/ax4.html ) performs better than any stock air cooler and is a significant saving over buying the Strix.

  • go for gaming oc.

  • Great, I'll pick it up. Thanks for the advice!
