Hoegaarden White Beer 24x 330ml - $39.99 Jim's Cellars

290

Fantastic beer for a mouth watering price! Yayyy!

Hoegaarden is the modern day original Belgian white. There are a number of imitators but none have really attained the perfect balance of sublety and complexity that Hoegaarden makes seem so simple. The beer is very pale, lighter in color than Pilsner, and cloudy. The cloudiness contributes a whiteness to the appearance, thus the name. The nose is full of fresh hops with some grains and yeast. It has a thin mouthfeel. Bananas and cloves are immediately evident in the flavor with a sweet and spicy finish. It is a wonderfully refreshing beer.

  • what about the coriander seeds?

the last time i ordered a case it only had 3 weeks expiry left on it.

    • was this from the deal I posted a while ago? mine had a couple of months before it expired on two, the other was just over a month. Didn't mind, had a PiMPS & Ho's party so it finished pretty quickly. Another box was left at work and didn't last long.

      s/white/wheat/g

    • same, but I only just noticed now after seeing this deal and then going and checking (still had a 4 pack left). Looks like I've been drinking beer with a best before of june .. but it was totally fine.

      ergo will buy again

Well if the beer is good enough 24 of them should not last 3 weeks!

  • Awesome deal.
They have (just expired) leffe blond, arguably the best beer in the world, for 69.99.
Its 99.99 at dans. Watch out though it smooth BUT is 6.6% alc/vol

'Has a Best Before of August 2011"

  • interesting, when i copied the link (from Jim's cellars), a comment appeared, apparently from the website, that it is used by August 2011 - still great price!

BTW Sydney folks, you can price match for 39.99 at Dans (thus saving on shipping) because Jims Cellars has physical stores in Crows Nest. I got mine price matched last time.

Then again, 5 dollars delivery is VERY reasonable I think :)

    • +2

If you price match you might get a longer expiry date too then hey..

      • Exactly!

  • Hey the current offering on Hoegaarden has a best before of September 16th, i think. Will check it out and post it tomorrow.

  • well if Dan Murphys is happy to price match, then you'd be crazy not to grab a couple from them with longer dates.

  • +4

Hoegaarden has a best before of 17/09/2011. Better to support the smaller operators i think, not just the big chains!!!!

    • +1

but i'm a woolies shareholder…i'm only adding to my next dividend :)

      • +2

You'd probably get 0.0000001 cent dividend for this karma

        • better in my pocket then jim's ;) actually, no need to price match as per the post below DM has the same price!

  • nice, has been this price at Brunswick IGA (VIC) for months now :D
was actually cheaper than Carlton until the other day when that when on special too..

  • If you set your local store in Dan Murphys to Manly Vale, 2096, the price for 24 pack comes up with $39.95. Awesome. Justin time for the sunshine this weekend, I loved this beer when i was back in England and will be a pleasure to renew our friendship.

    • Tried this and added to cart for $39.95 but when I finish completing all the details, it went back to $59.95.
So maybe this works if you pickup but not if you have it delivered.

      • Went in last night, out of stock. guy said they went as soon as the price changed, i get the feeling i am not the only one who is put off by $59.99 a case. Online my total updated to about $47 inc but i didnt follow it through, never ordered booze online before, doesnt feel right….

  • The last time I went for this deal the beer tasted a bit 'flat.' White beer is supposed to have a lot of head and the head was lacking. Definitely does not do the beer justice when consumed so close to expiry date.

  • Hubby bought one in Crows Nest store this morning but didn't check best before day. Guess what, best before 13/06/11.

  • i grabbed two cases from Dan Murphys for $39.95, January 2012 expiry and no price match required…HAPPY DAYS!

  • Wish I was in Sydney not Melbourne!
