Official website posts the $200 EFTPOS card as well so redemption shouldn't be a problem - https://www.videopro.com.au/p-11321-panasonic-lumix-dcg9gnk-…

This is basically the same price as I paid for a 2nd hand EM1-M2 just a few weeks ago for a 3yo camera. I've loved everything about the g9, esp the EVF, except the size and weight.

  • Em1 Mk2 is smaller, 2 pro lenses 20-40 and 40-150 is pretty much all you need that includes rain or snow more Olys in the second hand market because they have been there longer. Performance is at par but unless you prefer Panasonics menu system I reckon Oly em1 mk 2 second hand is a way better choice than a new G9 but then when it comes to cameras its a personal choice.Mind you the level of personalisation that Oly offers has made their menu system a big mess

I owned the g9 before, and to be honest, I thought the G9 was the better camera except for IBIS, size, and weight. It's EVF is second to none, its AF is surprisingly good, even with lenses that does not have a dfd profiles. I thought the eye AF on the g9 was superior as well.

Em1 mk2 is still ultimately my choice because of size, weight, and IBIS, but I miss the AF joystick (surprisingly). EM1 Mk2's articulating screen is also superior in my opinion.

I thought the g9 performed slightly better under low light conditions, and the dynamic range appears a tad better. But they're both really close. In terms of value, g9 takes the cake. the 3yo em1 mk2 is still going for over 2k at full price, about $1.8-$1.9k discounted which is really overpriced imo.

I actually don't find the menu system in Oly bad at all. Steep learning curve, but otherwise I'm actually okay with it.

Ah the world of cameras. Choices and compromises, personal choices everywhere. No such thing as the perfect camera :(

      • With Oly I find the menu system too complex..that maybe just me..I am not really all that technical with cameras so maybe its an operator issue ..I find the lens offerings superb at the price and the fact that Oly is completely weather proof with the pro lenses is a big plus not to mention hand held shots with the IBIS …G9 evf is better and I reckon the video is better as well ?

Oly lens offering is indeed superb. I have a range of lenses - All except 1 are olympus. you can use olympus lenses on the g9 too - that includes the pro lenses.

video is indeed better but I dont shoot video yet so shrugs.

Size and weight seems to be the biggest difference. Happy shooting!

      • Agreed re: pricing. Coming from an E-M1.1, I just couldn't justify $800 more for the E-M1.2 vs this

The G9 is a couple years younger and has a few notable improvements over the EM1 MkII. Here's a very in-depth and detailed comparison over on MirrorLessons: https://mirrorlesscomparison.com/panasonic-vs-olympus/g9-vs-…

Unfortunately it doesn't take into account the recent firmware that added a slew of new features, including many of the GH5's pro-level video capabilities.

  • I am uneasy with this clause for the cash card:
Purchases from duty-free, discounted or clearance eBay sales, parallel import stores and second-hand purchases/retailers are excluded.
Can someone confirm they did receive a cash card after buying from their eBay stores?

Whirlpool G9 forum had reports of people already getting theirs approved, I assume the tax invoice won't even mention Ebay

    • +1

Normally all the stuff I've bought from eBay comes with a standard invoice from the shop that does not mention eBay.

  • Just purchased a couple of days ago through DigiDirect… Argh

Argh indeed. #feelyourpain I feel somewhat responsible as I posted that deal haha.

  • Anyone had theirs ship yet?
