Do You Let Everyone Know about OzBargain or Not?

Wondering if people keep it quiet or spread it wide?

I tell people but they assume it's a catch or ozsale…….

I've been yapping on about it to anybody that will listen for the past 12 months or so. So yes.

  • +17

    Nobody listens

    • some people like to stay poor

I'm probably financially worse off since finding OzBargain years and years ago. I suffer massive FOMO and have a lot of things that I bought cheap for no reason.

Same reason why banks/utility companies/insurance companies continue to make lots of money. People think they want to save money but can't be bothered to make an effort to actually save money.

If they took the time to periodically reassess their banking/loan fees, energy costs, insurance costs and find the best deal, lots of money can be saved, when it comes to financial matters, inertia can be a bitch

for some of us its like a religion. no matter how sceptical people are or their unwillingness to see that there is an alternative, all we can do as believers and followers is to keep preaching and hopefully one day they will convert and start believing and then we can all go to bargain heaven

"Ozbargain loves you because you are special"

"Ozbargain loves you because you are on special"

      FTFY

We need bumper stickers of "What would Ozbargain do?"

Only my wife who never listens to me anyway.

They keep ordering full price Domino pizzas so I gave up.

    • +9

I was at dominos last week picking up my large pizza, garlic bread and 1.25l drink for $8.
A guy in front of me was ordering all these pizzas (>$60) and didn't apply a single special or code. I couldn't believe it.

      • +6

        That's what supports your $8 special ;)

But yes, always interesting seeing the pick-up vs counter orders at Dominos

    • +4

The ones paying full price are 'subsidizing' the coupon users. Let them be the ones to keep Dominos and Mcdonalds afloat :P

The trick is to refer your friends to OzBargain while remaining anonymous yourself.

    • +4

Until a photo surfaces of you handing out stuff at an OzBargain meet-up ;)

      • Fortunately the picture of giving scotty his prize hasn't surfaced.

        • FB doesn't allow nudity

@spackbace: There were no photos taken at the after party ;)

I let select people know about this site. Some simply don't care. I recommended buying eGift cards to a couple of friends who are always short on money but they said 'meh, 5%? Not worth bothering with'. Another said he was afraid of spending even more after looking at this site.

Another said he was afraid of spending even more after looking at this site.

I can relate to that sentiment. I don't blame your friend.

    • +2

The latter friend is likely correct

  • +4

No way. All the deals would be ozbargained. Someone has to be paying full price to subsidise our way of life.

    • very true if this goes mainstream there be no bargains

      • Isn't Ozbargain one of the biggest websites for au traffic …?

    • LOL

  • +1

I've got a hand full of people on it. Some are now addicted. Others just ask me for the cheapest price in whatever they're after.

  • +8

    All I get is…

"Isn't that where you go to talk about traffic infringements and car accidents?"

  • I wear the orange colour free ozb t-shirt 24/7

  • I've referred people @ work to Ozb,

    Most just stay lurkers though

  • +4

    Nope, it’s embarrassing.

    • What's more embarrassing is your lack of self-confidence to admit you love a good deal

  • Scotty pays me to yell "Ozbargain.com.au" at every single person that walks by. If they make eye contact he has me dancing a jig with a big sign with the URL on it.

    • Scotty Morrison made you do that. Thats why you should vote alp

  • There are people that don't know about ozbargain?

  • -1

No, I don't know anyone rich enough to make use of it.

  • +2

I stopped mentioning since people look down on me for acting poor

  • You can't save the fool pricers. They need to learn to save themselves.

  • -1

What's the first rule: There is no OzBargain

  • I kept on saying it to my friends who doesn't even bother checking it. And yet surprised how I manage to cop items for good prices (but makes me also buy stuff I don't even need. Lol).

  • All chant. "This is the way"

  • Yes

  • I tell people if I see a bargain for something i think they might be interested in.

I don't think I have converted anyone to members yet, but I've helped them buy a few things.
