Scoopon merchant violations - What is scoopon compliance going to do about them?

Scoopon still hasn't responded on The Beach Shack Hillarys WA who have blatantly changed their terms and conditions and even present you with a laminated sheet of what you are allowed to order per person. The deal was supposed to be $100 worth of anything. Now you can not order an adult meal for a kid, have to order off the unhealthy kid menu - who gives a stuff if the little ankle biters get overweight or get diabetes. Can only get one cold drink per person, only one hot drink, per person, only one food item, per person. That is NOT $100 of anything as promised. I don't want my kid eating chips. She doesn't like them. She wants a salad or risotto or grilled fish with salad, grilled or baked chicken with salad or veggies. It has been over a week, we deserve a report back on what is going on. Maybe scoopon is trying to drag it out so (oopsy) no time left for redemption. Too bad, so sad.

Now DUX restaurant in South Perth is limiting the number of Scoopons it is allowing to be redeemed. There are tables available, but not to Scooponers. Scoopon has previously posted that this is not allowed. Scoopon, please get your complaiance "team" on this and report back to us. They are treating Scooponers as second class citizens.

  • Scoopon, what is your policy on this? If a Scooponer goes to a restaurant and they have changed the rules, but the Scooponer doesn't want to make a scene or embarass themselves, will you refund the voucher if they are forced to eat under terms not orginally promised?

Scooponers lose their value if they don't cancel in a timely manner, why shouldn't they benefit, rather than LOSE if the merchant does the wrong thing?

Another Scoopon, another incident of being treated like crap. Rejuvin8 Beauty in Connelly WA. Call the number. Answering machine says if you are a scoopon person, leave a message and we'll call you back (uh…..right). All other customers call this other number where someone will help you straight away. WTF Scoopon? You really should disclose that this is how people are going to be treated when you list the deal.

Please have compliance onto them straight away. And let us know the deal.

  • Lol and these examples are why I no longer buy anything from group buy sites that are for services/hospitality

Best way to show your displeasure is with your wallet, no coupon = no grief.

Upside to all this is it calls out the dodgy businesses out there for others to avoid (coupon or not)

    • This is the thing. Scoopon has stated elsewhere that if tables are available, Scooponers have just as much right to them as non scooponers. The restauarants violate this rule. People can't get bookings. Then Scoopon and the restaurant chastise them about taking too long.

The restaurant in question here is DUX in South Perth WA.

I hope other people post merchant violations here and Scoopon can go through and answer them, before vouchers EXPIRE.

Voteoften, your complaints are totally justified and I hope that Scoopon does resolve them but frankly I'm surprised that you'd continue to buy scoopons after all the bad experiences you and others have posted on here!

    • Yes, all your complaints about Scoopon do appear to be justified, voteoften. As do the many other complaints about Scoopon on here.

But I must also ask, why do you keep buying Scoopon's given all the complaints you have about them?

      • +2

First of all, all of the scoopons bar the Rejuvin8 were bought months ago. Secondly, I'm an addict.

        • +1

          You need help bro! ;)

        • +1

Fair response :) It's good you are posting your experiences on here so others know which group buying companies they should avoid. I hope you get a reply to your above questions.

  • Get your ticket numbers ready voteoften. I like reading VoteOften's comment because they provide honest feedback both good and positive. :)

    I have resolved Rejuvin8 myself.

Scoopon has stated a couple of weeks ago that "compliance" would look into The Beach Shack at Hillarys. No word yet.

They also need to word up Dux of South Perth re limiting scoopon bookings contrary to scoopon policy.

Come on Scoopon. Now is your opportunity to shine and show how the CUSTOMER is your NUMBER ONE priority.

Scoopon, also Rejuva skin (Morley WA) has been treating scooponers poorly, in my opinion. They are not making all available spots for scooponers. I had to book my appts 7 months out. How stupid is that? Also, I went to an appt and they were short handed so they told me I could wait around and see if they could get to me. I had another appt to go to and they would not book me in for after that one.

Will your compliance people speak to them and get them to accept scoopons whenever they have availability?

I am beginning to question whether you really do care if voucherholders are able to redeem their vouchers and get what the offer states.

    • Did you get a reply about the two restaurants you mentioned in the original post?

      • +2

        I assume you mean

        The Beach Shack in Haillarys

        and

        Dux in South Perth.

        Nawp.

I have not seen Team Scoopon respond to anyone on this site for weeks.

Maybe I should email James Packer……

    Hi Voteoften,

We're really sorry about the delay in getting back to you on this one!! We do value your feedback and we'd love to help you out.

We can assure you that all the threads listed are followed up with out deal providers. If you wish to follow up any of your Scoopons directly or seek further information, please contact us at [email protected]

    Thanks,
    Team Scoopon

So, are you saying that if I visit the Beach Shack that I will not be told my daughter has to eat off the kids menu?

Are you saying that if I call Dux, they will give me any spot that is available, regardless of using a scoopon?

These are my vouchers and they are public deals that involve other people. What, exactly, does it mean when you say that they are "followed up with out deal providers"? Does it mean that you just mention it to them or does it mean that they agree to follow the terms and conditions of the offer? Clearly, these two restaurants are not. I want to know when they are going to provide what was promised. I don't want to book until then. PERIOD.

Are these two restaurants now acting in accordance with the deals offered or not? Please answer. I don't care about "follow up" unless it means they have changed their ways. If they haven't changed, then your follow up is useless. I do not want to deal with it on a one to one basis because these people would be cooking and serving my food.

    Hi Voteoften,

It is the Scoopon culture to deal with any issues or concerns on a one to one basis as each customer's situation can differ significantly. Please keep in mind that if you wish for your details to remain private we will speak with the dealer directly without disclosing your personal information.

We kindly ask that you submit your enquiry directly to our customer service team so we can provide you the personalised service you deserve.

    Thanks,
    Team Scoopon

    • I am going to have a friend complain about her vouchers and report on your response to her here. She has the same ones for Dux and Beach Shack.

    • +1

Pathetic response given how many people have bought the vouchers. Voteoften is not providing any private information and her original post was a general enquiry relating to two businesses. Why are you running to take this to email?

  • Okay, for Beach Shack, here is the ticket number.

    LDN-753904

Note, she has a bookings coming up. And she said she said you can not tell the Beach Shack that she was the one who complained.

    • +1

      This was the complaint.
I went to the Beach Shack in Hillarys WA with my kids. The deal was $100 of anything. We get there and there are all sorts of restrictions. The kids were forced to eat off kids menu. One cold drink each only. One food item per person, etc. This was not the deal. I have two more vouchers. Are they going to honour the deal for everyone, including my friends who also bought?

  • Dux
When I have tried to book at Dux for a Friday or Sat night, I have been told that they have no more scoopon bookings available. I thought they were not allowed to turn away scoopon buyers if there were any tables available. Why should I have to tell them I have a scoopon until i actually get there? Please tell them they are in the wrong.

    Ticket
    BAI-948187

Also note that she didn't give you permission to tell Dux who she is.

So here is what Brenden told my mate:

"We have followed up your concerns with our Deal Provider 'Dux Restaurant'.

The reservations staff were able to explain that there were bookings available as soon as September 2nd for Friday night requests.
Unfortunately, as Father's Day is on the weekend of the 4th of September, this has meant that Saturdays are already fully booked on this weekend.

However, if you wished to booked on a Saturday night, the earliest available was the 10th of September.

We kindly suggest that you call the Deal Provider as they are more than happy to help you and clear up any confusion that may have arisen previously."

What Dux says when you try to book is that they are accepeting no more scoopons on the Sat nights between now and 10 Sept, but that they are accepting regular bookings. This violates what Scoopon claimed was their policy that restaurants and others had to adhere to, in order to keep us, their number one priority, happy.

I "kindly suggest" that someone from scoopon try to make a scoopon booking on a sat night between now and 10 Sept. If they are turned away (and Dux doesn't say they are accepting reg bookings, they should get someone else to make a booking without mentioning scoopon.) They will see that non scoopon bookings are being accepted. Actually they can skip the scoopon booking attempt. Actually, the restaurant has already said they are not taking scoopon bookings for the next 3 -4 weeks. Scoopon personnel should just confirm that non scooponers are being accepted. If they are (as we were told on the phone) then there is a violation. Pretty simple.

This violation doesn't seem as aggregious as The Beach Shack who have changed the terms and conditions of the offer entirely, doing away with "anything" on the menu and discrimination on the basis of age by forcing kids to eat unhealthy kids meals. At least Dux will accept Fri/Sat bookings, just at more of a wait than non scooponers. Beach Shack will not (apparently) provide what was promised.

Both are matters of public, generic policy, not a private matter depending on circumstances. Scoopon is aware of the issue. The question is what are they going to do about it.

No answer on that. It's only been about a month.

    • Good on you for pursuing the issue and keeping us updated. If people don't stand up for themselves, who else will?

Hopefully readers will be able to separate the good deal providers from the bad.

      Hi voteoften,

      Thanks for the post.

When following up concerns such as yours with Dux Restaurant, it is usual practice that our Customer Service Team will 'prank' call as Scoopon Members.
Our Team did follow up your concerns as a Scoopon holder, and the advise that was given to Scoopon by the Deal Provider was as stated in the email provided above.

The Deal Provider explained that due to Father's Day bookings, the restaurant was quite busy. However, the reservation staff were able to offer availability for the weekends, as well as during the week within 2 weeks from our 'prank' call.

      Kind Regards,
      Team Scoopon.

It's ashame that so many have issues with these deal vouchers, but seriously, does everyone really think any of these businesses are profiting form offering these? So many businesses have gone bust by offering these deals because the sales teams that work at these sites completely screw the businesses down on cost and then not to mention take their cut of up to 50%. They ring my business all the time, and it's annoying as hell to listen to their bullshit even after we say we're not interested then they keep on talking and try to tell us what prices that we must agree to, which in our case is WAY below even our cost price.
I wish everyone realized that buying any of these deals is just ensuring that the bigger chains remain in business and the unique smaller guys just go bust.
Support ur local and smaller businesses buy paying them what they are worth, not by making the likes of Packer richer.

The discounts should be treated as advertising.. Getting new biz in the door. It is up to the biz to retain by dazzling buyers. How much does normal advertising cost per dollar of new biz? About 5% of a biz's advertiisng budget is the effective part, but no one knows which.

No one forces these businesses to sign. They are big girls and boys.

I feel more sorry for customers where one person doesn't drink booze and orders a bottle of sparkling. All of a sudden it is poured for everyone at the table, more bottles brought without consultation, ending up costing $50. I do not feel sorry for these restaurants! They squeeze consumers for everything they can. Full stop.
