    Hi, thanks for your comment - I understand that it looks similar, and if you look more closely you can see the design of the sharpening gates/slots are quite different. They're also made from different materials. We've tested most of the competitor products available ourselves and we've found that the Carver Marvel knife sharpener consistently outperforms the competition. The Carver Marvel is definitely not the cheapest knife sharpener available and that's because we believe it's the best.

  Pull-through sharpeners are terrible for your knives, and don't do a good job. If you think they do, you've never had a properly sharp knife.

  Stones are cheap and just take a bit of practice.

    I tend to agree. Certainly with respect to the 'pull through' sharpeners.
