    Yeah the first one was great much better mech action than filmography Michael bays transformers… edit: it also had a great soundtrack.

    Giant robots vs giant alien monsters movie which doesn't take itself too seriously. What's not to love?

      Yeah, it's a stupid movie, but at least it's entertaining stupid.

      I guess I was a little disappointed by it just in the sense that Guillermo del Toro has shown that he can make great action movies that still have decent story lines and performances. I was kind of hoping he would put a bit more substance into this one to back up the cool mech-on-monster action, but he didn't. I still like the movie, but with GdT at the helm I was hoping for so much more.

    I found it much more fun than say, Transformers. CGI or not, there is a good sense of scale in this movie and the robots actually come across as gigantic. And awesome sound, great for a home suround system. The acting, pacing, story etc is pretty crap except for Idris Elba.

  The composer (Ramin Djawadi) for this movie did Iron Man and Game of Thrones. Incredible soundtrack and visuals. Probably the best mechs vs monsters movie. It was definitely lacking in the script and logic department but the vulnerability of the mechs and animation is truly amazing.
