Bought Sony Headphones on Amazon $289, How do I get GST back at airport?

Hi Guy.
I bought this Sony headphones on Amazon Au the other day:
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/500568
Tax Invoice shows only $289, sold by Au Amazon Commercials with their ABN.
I am very familiar with how to claim GST back at airport but this time I struggle a bit. Because the amount is less than $300, and I don’t know if I have to buy something else Sold and Shipped by Amazon to have the same seller and ABN on the Tax invoice to make $300 (or above)? In this case, I was struggling to find anything that I need and not too big for carry on luggage.
Or can I buy something else from any seller? If this is the case, does the Tax invoice show Amazon and their ABN or the seller’s business name and ABN which will be invalid to combine with the Tax invoice from Amazon? But there are more things that I may need and can buy from all these sellers.
Any suggestions? Do you know anything not too big, less than $30, Sold and shipped by Amazon that you can recommend?
Highly appreciate all your inputs.
Thank you

  • I think you know it already. You won't be able to claim TRS for this purchase.

      Not true.

I answered the same question in the deal you bought from.

      • Did not know this. Thanks for clarifying this.

You just need a $11 or more purchase (also eligible) from Amazon Au to bring the total to $300 or more.

"A traveller may claim a refund under the TRS if the purchases meet the following requirements:
the purchases are from a single business with the same Australian business number (ABN) and total AUD$300 (GST inclusive) or more. For example, if you bought items from one business, even on separate invoices, that together total AUD$300 the goods were purchased within 60 days of departure from Australia…"

  • Seriously OP, google it, TRS, then https://www.abf.gov.au/entering-and-leaving-australia/touris…

your purchases are from a single business with the same Australian business number (ABN) and total AUD 300 (GST inclusive) or more. For example, if you bought items from one business, even on separate invoices, that together total AUD 300, these items could be eligible for a tax refund under the TRS

    • Seriously you didn’t get my question. I have claimed many many times and I know the rules. What I was asking is whether I can buy from other Sellers on Amazon (but not Sold by Amazon) to make the $300 threshold.
Of course I know if I try to find something Sold and Shipped by Amazon then it’s OK to combine invoices but it’s very hard to find anything useful for me.
      Thanks

      • with the same Australian business number (ABN)

Check for ABN in the invoice, as long as its from same ABN.

      • Buy something sold by Amazon AU to err on the side of caution. A food item such as biscuits, chocolate etc is easy, and you won't need to bring it back as you'll eat it or give it away whilst overseas.

  • for $27 lol, not worth the effort

Buying something for $11 to get $27.27 back is not worth the effort? You should have your OzBargain licence revoked.

      • nope not worth the hassle at airport, could of picked the ozbaragin licence revoked comment, original, congrats.

        • Thanks :)

You're doing it wrong if you're going there just to claim $300 from a single business though.

Bundle that Amazon purchase with purchases from other businesses and you're collecting $90 back off the $1000 max you're allowed to come back with without additional duties.

More if you're visiting friends or rellos and are gifting them stuff.

        • If just the headphones only, I would waste my time for the TRS, but I am claiming few thousands $$$ worth of goods, and this headphones is the only thing from Amazon. Looks like I have to buy something unuseful Sold by Amazon AU (min $11) to meet the threshold and to have the same ABN, just to be on the safe side, rather than a third party seller on Amazon.
