Same supply, lower demand. Surely that pushes prices down here, but up in China?

    • Exactly, the big IT guys from USA will be desperate to sell their IT stuff, this can only mean that the prices will drop for us.

    • Guess IT wages are going down down down

      • Why?

        • If there's lower demand for IT companies due to china IT ban, then there's also less demand for IT workers in aggregate terms.

Gee, the Chinese are buying local. Good for them, who wants that foreign crap anyway.

Dunno what @OP want us to say, but whatever.

China banning something. what else is new?

I don't see an issue if governments wants to use locally made tech.

Chinese might as well ban all of their offshore engineering support in automotive. Or all of their imports.

Let's go back to the protectionism era of economic growth fueled by inefficiencies. At least the youngings can get jobs again

  • But wait, isnt most foreign IT made in china in the first place.

    • Assembled yes, but as the article says made perhaps not so much. CPU, memory, hard drives etc are made all over the place (eg Thailand, Malaysia) and usually by American-owned companies.

Then there's software, sure you can run a *nix variant but applications become a problem. Where do you get all of those from?

  • I look at my desk and everything is made in china except my samsung stuff which is made in vietnam, malaysia or Korea
