  • Wow! Great find OP

It's the same price at Target so if you have the $15 voucher makes it good alternative https://www.target.com.au/p/lego-reg-technic-porsche-911-rsr…

  • Man, I could have saved the AMEX Myer offer for something else. This hurts.

    • What did you do with it instead?

  • The 12% tipped me over the line .
    Nice OP .

  • Grabbed one as well, needed another kit for a drunk LEGO session with the boys.
    Cheers to you OP

    • He's a wild one!

  • Grabbed one, Thanks OP

  • How does this compare to the orange porsche everyone used to grab? Price varies massively from memory with the only notable difference to me being the gearbox the orange one had. I love orange too but you always missed the previous deals, just wondering if this would be a good alternative.

    Thanks in advance. 😊

Not a logo expert but from the descriptions:

White porsche: Porsche 911 RSR model car measures over 5” (13cm) high, 19” (50cm) long and 7” (20cm) wide; 1580 pieces

Orange porsche: This set includes over 2,700 pieces. Porsche 911 GT3 RS measures over 6" (17cm) high, 22" (57cm) long and 9" (25cm) wide

My take: this is a cool Lego model but a lousy Technic set, like many 2018/19 sets have been.

      Great value at $149 though.

How does this compare to the orange porsche everyone used to grab?

The 911 GT3 RS is the bigger, better, more complex Technic set. It has a working, 4-speed gearbox, limited slip differential and is arguably more aesthetically-true-to-life. The slightly bigger dimensions give it a more accurate and appropriate scale as well.

The build for the 911 GT3 RS is pretty complicated though, especially if you're not used to these larger Lego Technic sets where gear and axle tolerances and clearances really do matter, so if you make a mistake early on it's fiendishly complicated to fix things without ripping the entire build apart and the instructions even have a notable mistake in them where they instruct you to mount the gearbox backwards (so you end up with 4 reverse gears and 1 forward gear). Plenty of info about this online.

And the working flappy paddles, by far my favorite thing.

      • I've always regretted missing out on the orange one but never had nor could justify the money at the time. 😔

I'd love to build it but maybe I'll have to just settle for this one.

        Thanks for the input.

        • No worries mate.

The orange 911 GT3 RS and the Bugatti Chiron are definitely marketed very differently by Lego to be part of a "premium" range of licensed, automotive Technic sets based on high-performance, luxury car marques; as opposed to this 911 RSR, the Mack Anthem, the Ford Mustang, James Bond's Aston Martin DB5, etc and other "run-of-the-mil" Technic automotive sets.

Check out the unboxing videos of either the 911 GT3 RS or the Chiron. The elaborately-detailed fold-out packaging, high quality box art and manual and overall presentation is something you don't see with any of the other Technic automotive sets I've mentioned (despite the fact a lot of them are just as big in piece count and size), and even something you don't get with a lot of UCS collector's sets (for the Star Wars or DC Comics themes) that are also marketed as flagship, premium models.

Heck, even the much more expensive and currently-largest Lego set, the UCS Millennium Falcon, doesn't get the luxury treatment the 911 GT3 RS or Bugatti Chiron do; inside the Falcon box is just a hefty manual and a bunch of smaller white boxes with bags in them (though that's probably more to do with saving on weight and shipping given how big the Falcon is).

$218 now, looks like it's expired.

  • Thanks OP, got one!

  • Damn OP. I only had $160 in my account until the next pay day.

    • This is sad (if true). I hope you're doing ok?

Also, you probably want to be saving that money for essentials (if you were being serious).

  • I'm pissed off BigW catalogue start today and have no LEGO NINJAGO City - 70620 at $399 . Checked a few major cities no stock anywhere .
