Greetings & Salutations,

As I'm currently in the market for such an item, putting this forth to OzBargain community and after any input as to if this is actually a good deal or if there's any other similar product to opt for.

Thanks.

  • You should change the title, it's missing the store name and pricing.

This is the "cheaper" end of the Evakool range. Unlike the ebay cheapies, Evakool has been in business a long time. Nowhere near as good as the GM or RF, however if you have plenty of 12v or 240v power available, it's a great deal.

    • Cheers.

Plan is to eventually run dual batteries with solar for primary power supply to a fridge, led lighting and device charging.

  • Reviews seem pretty shocking.

    • I'm curious, are there online users reviews for a portable fridge freezer that isn't?

Maybe its just all the cheap ones but so many people report issues with them.

  • Just got the last one here, cold beers and
    camping this weekend, thx

  • Tempting. My main concern is reliability long term.

  • Only thing I can offer is that I have had and still do, an older lower end Evakool fridge, an RV25. (25L). Had it for about 8 years now and its still running fine.

I initially bought it because it fitted in the tray under the tarp on my ute but it ended up being used as a beer fridge in the garage. Runs 24/7. Probably the only things I would offer as down points is that its not as quiet as other fridges on the market and the hinge points are somewhat weak, as mine has started cracking in the plastic around them.

I think I paid $400 for it, so in my mind, it has been $400 well spent. I have it set at 1C and it only fluctuates between 4C and 0C.

It may not be the best thing on the market, but it has worked well for me.

So for the price on the fridge posted by the OP, I think its a good buy.

  • The optional ac adapter is a bit of a rip off from evakool @$150 but I picked one up from SCA for $50 https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/evakool-evakool-fridge-1…

I'm aware that I could have bought a generic from eBay for less than this but I figure running the fridge with evakools adapter gives me peace of mind in case there are any warranty dramas.
