Do You Slow down at Intersections?

Say you enjoying a green wave,

Do you slow down at intersections?
I think most of us do, against the intentions behind the idea.

Do you think we should?
Why?

    No
    No
    It's green
    .

    • Yes, cause the idiot driver in front of me usually does for no damn reason.
      No.

  • Wow, things must be slow.

A thirteen year old article from Belgium.

    And no I don't.

  • There is a set of 4 traffic lights I go through frequently at night that follow the green wave. I've got the timings down pat and so I never need to exceed the 60km limit. The only gotcha is if someone is infront of me in the 4 lanes. I often wonder if those around me are freaking out that I'm not braking early.

Often I am behind cars which suddenly brake at the intersection when it's green and I wonder WTF?

      I hate drivers like that.
It's green. braking at the intersection at green light can cause accident.

sometimes they don't brake. just driving slower gradually until yellow light then go fast leaving me stop at red light.

  • This is why I used to enjoy driving from my parents house in the suburbs back to my place in the city at night time. Driving along Victoria Rd felt like a green wave at 11pm and I was able to get my fuel consumption down to <5L/100km.

I don't understand why you would slow down at an intersection which is green. Is this a joke? It can't be a real question. Do people not know what a green light means?

"I think most of us do"

I think you've taken too many drugs today.

    • Wait, are there kinds of drugs are there that make people suspicious of Green Traffic lights?

  • When I first got tested for my licence I failed becuase I didn’t cover the brake while approaching/crossing intersections.

Don’t think I’ve ever done it again since without good reason, ie looks like someone isn’t going to stop or wobbly bicycle rider etc.

    • How do you do that in a manual vehicle?

      • Umm… take your foot off the accelerator and hover it over the brake pedal?

Slow down for intersections indicates you are continuing along a road, not stopped and waiting.

  • I don't always slow down but I am way more cautious than everyone else it seems. There are so many dumb ass drivers who want to turn right THAT KEEP CREEPING FORWARD. Not straight, angled into oncoming traffic. I've had to brake extremely hard one time because of this.

Yes, but only because I'm usually speeding, so I'll make sure I come down to the limit in the intersection.

Taking off from an intersection right after a green light, I always look both ways quickly as I start moving. Way too many idiots running red lights. The fact that you had the right of way won't mean much when you're dead or in a coma.

In another comment you mention you don't speed as it's breaking the law, yet here you openly admit to breaking the law.

      Reported.

      • No, I mentioned I don't thrash my car to dangerous levels because its almost certainly going to put me in a situation where I'm breaking the law. Here I'm saying I may occasionally be going 83kmh in an 80 zone. Those things are not mutually exclusive.

Your obsessive crusade with calling me out has turned worrying tbh. Think about other things.
