Kogan 26800mAh Power Bank Pro (102W) with PD 3.0 and QC 3.0 - $71.00 (+ $8.99 Shipping) @ Kogan

100
FESTIVE

It's back. Shipping is not free anymore unfortunately, unless you have Kogan First, which I'm not sure anyone here would recommend.

I own the 60W model which is very good. It charges things fast and can itself be charged fast. It has 60W charging which is faster than Xiaomi and ZMI models and is the best bang for buck power bank of this size and power output, albeit not going to win any beauty contests. It also holds charge well when not in use.

As a power bank connoisseur, I of course am obliged to buy one.

  • Massive 26800mAh battery with 102W total power
  • Qualcomm Quick Charge QC 3.0 up to 18W*
  • Power Delivery PD up to 87W for USB Type-C devices*
  • Intelligently identifies devices ideal power output
  • Impressive two-way fast charging with 60W input
  • UPS – Charge and use your device simultaneously
  • 3 Ports to charge and use devices simultaneously
  • Smooth aluminium body and finish

  • That is some extreme capacity. For those with the unit, or similar, is it quite reliable?

  • The most important is, what's inside the power bank. There is a good teardown review website I can't remember but better check before buying. I never recommend Kogan branded products they are junks.

Will it power a docked Nintendo Switch?

    • It will charge, but you can't play while docked. That requires the official AC adapter.

      • Too bad this does’t have an AC outlet. Is there a way to add one?

        • AC outlet? What do you mean?

It doesn't come with a charger. You'll have to use your existing PD charger.

        • Confusing as to why you would have an AC outlet for the TV you're docking to, but not one for the Switch itself.

I would not buy this product if you were thinking of brining with your for your trip's in an aircraft due to the 100watts limitation.

    • +2

Are you referring to the 100Wh limitation for carry on? This power bank comes in just under:
      Battery capacity
      26,800mAh / 3.6V / 96.5Wh

        Yed, i was.

Lol but the title in saying 102w

The more I learn the less I know. Got it. Thank a for clarifying.

        • Wattage/power (W) and capacity (Wh) are 2 very different things. There should be no confusion.

        • +1

you are confusing W with Wh.

One is power, the other is energy.

    • The limitation of 100Wh is actually on the size (capacity) of the Lithium battery, not on the amount of power it can deliver at any one point in time

Got in. Thanks for taking time in letting me know.

  • These can charge macbooks yeah?

    • based on the fourth photo in the listing I would presume so

It delivers up to 87W via PD. It charges my XPS 15 which wants 130W. It just charges slower than the official charger.

      • I've got a 9550. What version is yours?

        • +1

          9570.

It charges using my 60W power bank, at 60W.

    • +1

Yes it should charge any USB-C PD Macbook. It also charges my Dell XPS 9570 (I have the 75W version of this powerbank)
It's a very good powerbank and holds its charge for months. It's ideal on camping trips as you can charge the powerbank via USB port on your car charger, preferably a USB-C PD port for quick charging. Then on a rainy (or lazy) day around the campsite it will keep any USB powered device charged, it will recharge my Samsung TAB S4 tablet a couple of times and recharge a few phones, it fast charges also so it will charge your tablet/iPad/phone as quickly as it would charge your phone at home plugged into its original charger. The only negative is that it's on the heavy side of things.

Got negged for making a comment about how this charger is going to drop in price (from 140 dollars) after the 60w finishes it's sale. Kogan is known to do this because dodgy. This one is a good deal.

    • +1

I did not neg you, but did point out that at that time that was a deal for the 75W version for people who wanted it then.

Just because this deal would/has come up ( you were/are right about that ), does not justify you negging the earlier 75W deal in my opinion.

This is still $20 or more depending on your postcode ( $13 for me and not so secluded ), so for some people who don't need extra W output the 75W for $69 delivered is good.

Fair point, dude. After you are on here long enough, you find patterns in certain retailers. I'm quite familiar with this power banks pricing pattern only because Ive had my eye on it for about half a year. I would pull the trigger, but I'm wondering how future proof this is for other devices. As far as I'm concerned, 100w is more than enough for almost all devices. I have a 9550 xps15 but I already have the Dell portable charger for it. However I will eventually upgrade and will only consider devices that can be charged through pd.

        • +1

It's only 87W via USB PD. The remaining 15W is to charge the standard USB ports at the same time.

Most USB C-C cables cap out at 100W, so you are approaching the limit of what you can do with PD 2.0.

Laptops requiring more than 100W are probably using barrel or some proprietary connector.

          • @lostn: Is there a way of assessing charge speed when topping up the bank itself from say 20-80% with a 60W adapter?

            • +1

@0jay: Yes, if you have a USB voltmeter.

Or you could just time how long it takes.

It's pretty fast in my experience. 20-80 would probably be done in an hour, maybe less.

              • +1

@lostn: A guess is fine, ta.
